I don't think you will see a status change online first. My impression was that you will get an email/phone call first. I could be wrong though. They seem pretty tight lipped about how this all works...or perhaps they are growing tired of obsessive pre meds (like myself) asking the same questions over and over again.
Hey, I am in the top third as well. What does the whole blackboard thing mean? Like since it is at 144, how many slots are open? Sorry, I am just joining the thread so I am out of the loop. Do you know what the liklihood is of getting in if on the top third?😕
The general consensus on this thread is that although not a guarantee of admission, the top third of the wait list has a good chance of acceptance. I do not really know if the number of students (or lack thereof) on blackboard correlates exactly with how many spots are open but I assume it is a good barometer of such. As for my own opinion of gaining admission from the top third waitlist I am cautiously optimistic but I wouldn't be surprised if I heard nothing at all...this has been a competetive year for all schools and I wonder if UofL will have as many spots open to waitlisters as in prior years.
Hey all you waitlist people I just wanted to give you some encouragement. My cousin graduated from Louisville in 2007 and he said their #1 in the class was a girl who got accepted into school from the waitlist a few weeks before classes started! How about that?
Thank you louisvilledoc! That is encouraging, but yeah I guess we waitlisters have to be prepared for anything. It is so stressful. Tomorrow is the deadline day. I wonder when the first people will get notified. I assume Monday, the 19th would be the earliest.
I talked to them and they said "after the May 15 deadline" they will begin notifying wait list applicants of vacancies. I think as early as Friday. Anyone else ventured to call the admissions dept?
Thanks louisvilledoc! I absolutely hate talking on the phone and avoid it like the plague, so I will not be calling the admissions office unless it's necessary for admission haha =)

I just got in!!!! I got an email with an admissions offer...I'm going to UofL!
I just thought I would stop by and see how everyone is making out since today is the big day. Congrats Louisvilledoc! That has to feel amazing...especially finding out the first day they were going to take people off of the list! Good luck to the rest of you in the top third, I hope you hear ASAP. As ClockWork said...here's to hoping for a freak instance of around 60 more people or so dropping to get to us on the bottom third! 😉

I know. I pray we both get good news Monday!!!! I wish they worked on the weekends, haha. And that is undfortunate about blackboard. Oh well. I just wish I could know so bad. So when is it that this busy period is over. Like May 15 was the deadline so everyone had to make a decision. But when will they be done filling the class and then we have to just wait until someone that did not withdrawal falls out of the class for some random reason? Does anyone know?
I'm praying for good news Monday too! I think the majority of waitlist movement at any school is done by June 1. After that I wouldn't count on getting in.

FYI: I went into the admissions office today to pay my deposit and learned a very interesting fact. They read this thread! They knew my user ID on here and had read my posts...apparently it's not too hard to figure out who's who on SDN for adcoms. Just thought that was pretty cool.

Wow!! That is cool. Yes, please please let us in!! The suspense is killing me. Megflyin and I really want in. I would without a doubt 100% accept an admissions offer. I would be so proud to go to UL!!! I spent the summer at UL last year for PEPP and am doing it again this year so I am familiar with and LOVE the medical school!!!

Louisvilledoc....you just let out their secret, so you're in trouble now! Just playing, but seriously...be on the lookout for a letter from them saying they changed their mind on your acceptance and in the letter the reason stated is "Announced in the Louisville Status Check thread on SDN that we could see everything they were saying after he swore to secrecy that he would not tell his fellow SDNers." 😉
So has anyone else on the waitlist heard anything? I am so nervous. This may sound corny but I looked at the information about the student run clinics and the press release for the white coat ceremony last year. It brought tears to my eyes just thinking about being there. I keep praying to be blessed with that e-mail. Does anyone know what the class size will be, larger or smaller, relative to years previous?

Aw, keep hope alive meg! I am becoming increasingly worried as each day passes. I just want it so bad. This is my second year applying. I am from louisville and staying here would be amazing. Is this your first or second attempt at getting in?

Do you have any other acceptances this year? And how far did you make it last year with Louisville? Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine. You are still within two weeks of that May 15th deadline and if everyone on SDN is correct, that is when most of the movement happens, so you still have time!
Thanks JaredP! I appreciate it! I hope I hear something soon. Last year, due to a lot of stuff going on I was not able to perform as well as I would have liked on the MCAT. I did not even get interviewed. This year, I was able to do much better and improve on the MCAT. I got a scholarship to KAPALAN and that made a big difference and being the RA for PEPP I had a lot of resources because of the director of that program such as practice MCATS. Anyways, I do not have any acceptances to med school 🙁. I am really nervous. UL is my dream aschool, my top choice. It has always been. I was excited when I got top third, and I am trying to keep hope alive, but with each passing day, it gets harder. Thank you again for your kind words though!

This is random...but does anyone that has taken KAPLAN or who has had access to the AAMC practice MCATs know if you can take each test more than once? No, I'm not planning on taking any of the tests more than once, but a buddy of mine and I are studying and only one of us still has access to KAPLANs online material and we found out the hard way that you can only take the KAPLAN practice tests once, so only one of us could take it. Thanks!
Hey JaredP...I remember that KAPLAN had practice tests and after taking them they give you your score online. Once they do that, I believe that you can only look at the questions and answers. I do not think you can take them over. But ask the KAPLAN people to make for sure. Also, I know that they have plenty of practice tests at the center, and there are practice tests available online. Good luck to you. When are you retaking the MCAT?
