Yeah, I declined Touro for pretty much what YiYaoYue said. As everyone will tell you, during an interview day you will be assessing the school just as much as they are you. The opinion of others will be different, but I left with a very negative impression of Touro after visiting. My stats are above average, and I feel I did well enough at other schools that I am willing to keep my $2k and risk waiting for elsewhere. It may seem bleek after getting 2 hold letters, but I'm confident I'll find a trickle of light at the end of the tunnel.
@ PharmDee09: Yeah, being deferred after interview means they want to see how the other interviewees do before they make their final decision on you. At the end you'll find out if you're accepted, waitlisted, or denied.
For those who interviewed on Nov. 14th...anyone get an acceptance letter yet?
I'm still waiting!
I was hoping to get some news before the Thanksgiving break. But it looks like we wont get any news til after.
Also, could you guys tell me what UOP mainly looks for if they don't take PCAT? I'm really curious.
They look for hight and weight mainly.
they also look for people that can spell. height is spelled h-e-i-g-h-t

After careful checking of myself I have come to this conclusion: my sarcasm with the height and weight comment was fostered from the sillyness (if you will) of the question. What do they mainly look for if it's not pcat? How about EVERYTHING you submit? Since when does a school not look at the applicant as a whole? If you won't accept that, then how about gpa? I hope that better answers the question and we can put this very important dilemma to rest.

LOL that's really funny.
Crazy4eck: lighten up. Calisoca was merely making a joke and I thought it was funny since I got the weight down and also the height
Hey, did you guys hear about the recent shooting at UOP. One beautiful Vietnamese student was shot leaving her husband and 2 young kids. They said the murderer shot himself after being chased by the police. How sad
surely, that is a critical detail of the story.
anyway, i think a uop student was shot during a home invasion robbery....it wasnt even in stockton...it was in san mateo.

Different schools put different weight on different criteria. Some are really big on scores, some are big on GPA, etc.
But thanks for the help...even though your post was useless.
Good Luck!Does anybody know for sure they're going to UOP??I'm having a hard time deciding between UOP and USC. Right now I'm leaning more towards UOP because at the interview everyone was soo nice and friendly, but USC has its own perks too. Any advice??
If I am lucky enough to get into USC, I will be making the same decision (I would consider UCSD if I get in there too). I have it boiled down like this:
- USC seems much more enjoyable, in a more high-profile area, program seems high-powered with a lot of opportunities (not that UOP's is bad, but it seems more tied in with some big things in So Cal).
- UOP is one year less and I would probably have $75k less of loans coming out of there compared to USC. I'd have to sit and calculate the costs and everything but man...that's a pretty penny on the loan repayments.
USC is an awesome school...but UOP is a very good option and probably a more practical one for most people. That's the way I see it. It would still be a tough call for me. Sleep on it.

So, someone told me that tuition for UOP is the same (more or less) than a 4 year school. UOP charges more per year to make up for the non-existent 4th year. I dont know whether this is true. Perhaps a UOP student can shed some light on this.

Wow, thanks for your input. I didn't realize that UOP actually costs less than USC. It does seem more practical to go there w/ the accelerated program and the cheaper loan. I will definitely sleep on that. Btw, my bf lives in Fresno too. If i go to uop then i'd be much closer to him than from LA..not that I should let that influence my choice but it's definitely a plus🙂

^UOP: $50k 1st year, $50k 2nd year, $32k 3rd year = $132k
http://www.usc.edu/schools/pharmacy/pharmd/admission/tuition.html
^USC: Roughly $40k per year x 4 years = $160k
So there is about a 30k difference in raw tuition. Plus you have a year less of living expenses, and cheaper ones at that.
The public schools are a lot cheaper tuition-wise (I think $25k/year or so) but the living costs in SF or SD are both ungodly.![]()
Congrats to all who were recently accepted. Did anyone from the 11/21 interview hear anything yet? I'm guessing since the 11/15 acceptances were so recent, maybe this coming week will be when I can expect to hear back. Are rejections via email too?

living in SD is not ungodly...10 mins away from ucsd there is housing for single room ranging from 450 to 600.....that is not expensive.

What are you guys doing for the ones on-hold? It's a long wait =/
Congrats to those who got in =)
