UOP 2010 application

I actually have a B.S. already. When I called, they told me that they ran out of earlier interview dates, so I'm assuming if I called earlier that morning (9am?), I would have gotten an earlier date. When did you call? I'm thinking anyone calling in after 10/9 would be getting the 1/15 date or later unless someone reschedules?

ic. I guess they are not having interviews during December. I called them on the last Monday (12). So yeah that makes sense! Good luck with an interview!

There is still hope. I'm a Tier 2 applicant and I just received mine today 🙂! My application was completed 8/28 and PCHK dated 10/2, my interview will be on 1/15. Good luck everyone!

congratulation, i am still waiting for it. Hope to hear a good news by this weekend

Just got back to southern cali from stockton.

great campus and a well organized interview day. faculty interview was a little intimidating, but overall uop seems to have a great program. btw... the city wasnt ghetto if you stay in the right areas haha.

hoping for good news in 3-5 weeks 🙂

A drive-by shooting occurred 3 blocks away from UoP on Robinhood Drive not more than a month ago.

Stockton is that ghetto. Robberies in broad daylight in Spanos Park and Brookside? Believe it.

Not saying it's as bad as the O.K. Corrall, but don't lull yourself into a false sense of security about that city.

Don't believe me?

"Stockton, California is in the 99% percentile rank in the state for Violent Crime."

99th percentile is SWEET when it's your PCAT composite. Quite the opposite for violent crime. 99th percentile puts it at or above Compton... think about that for a second.

Violent Crime Rate (incidents per 100k of population)
Stockton 1347
CA 577
National 596

Stockton rate: 6702.5
Nation rate: 3496.9
CA rate: 4296

"
Stockton, California has a property crime rate of 6702.5 incidents per 100,000 people."

It's a dangerous, very dangerous place. Don't think for a second that you're safe just because you spent 2 or 3 days there and nothing bad happened...

Rates for murder, forcible rape, burglary, larceny, and a host of other metrics are either 50 to 100% more than the national average in Stockton.

http://www.homesurfer.com/crimereports/view/crime_report.cfm?state=CA&area=Stockton is an excellent source for combined data.

every city has shooting. stockton does a higher rate in certain AREA. like any other cities, there will be a bad area and a good area, depending your family class. When you use the word ghetto, its really unprofessional, so just be careful what word you guys use during the interview. those are really important. But yea, i live in a really nice area, and i am so happy. It is not bad at all. I am safe, and feel 300% happy with my situation. and it is only for 2 years up in stockton....list OUT THE PROs AND CONS

I'm not even beginning to tell anyone not to go to UoP, so don't get me wrong.

Furthermore, if you'd have read the data I posted, you'd see that sure, every city has violent crime and such, but Stockton has a much higher rate of it. And indeed, if you knew anything about Stockton, you'd know that Brookside is a super-lux part of Stockton west of I-5 in a beautiful, expensive area with $750,000 houses. If you consider that a bad neighborhood, I wish I grew up where you did.

I went to the interview yesterday too and Lupe (the interview coordinator) was saying how Stockton isn't ghetto at all and that she didn't know what "ghetto" meant until she looked it up in the dictionary and was like, "Stockton isn't like that!! 😱" haha.. Yeah, I'm not really convinced, but I still like UOP.

lol your data is totally irrelevant because cheeseboy2 said that "if you stay in the right areas its not that ghetto." All your data tells us is that Stockton as a whole has a higher crime rate than other cities, not that every square inch of Stockton is ghetto. So I don't know why you went all out with those facts on him, it didn't prove him wrong.

haha thanks desler.

yeah i did feel a little attacked by your barrage of facts and numbers but you are right, passion its not the greatest of areas. but i just think you were hinting at readers to be so afraid that they shouldnt go there when in reality uop has a great program, as you would know yourself since you are interviewing there also.

its unfortunate but crime is gonna happen everywhere. heck i had my car broken into twice in la jolla just outside of ucsd which arguably is the safest area of pharm schools in CA.

That's why I explained that Brookside and Spanos Park have regular violent crimes occur as well. Had he known anything about Stockton, which he doesn't, as he is basing his judgment on a one or two day excursion, he wouldn't have said that.

Did you miss the whole $750,000 house thing? Or did that go over your head in your rush to hit Reply as fast as you could to tell me I was wrong?

Again, I am not casting aspersions upon UoP nor would I turn an offer down at all. However, your perspective is extremely myopic and, well, naive.

A car break-in is not at all, whatsoever, the same as a violent crime.

i went to ucsd before coming to UOP. La regencia is really bad. I am so much more happier now living a nice gated house for A WAY CHEAPER PRICE. GOOD LUCK ON THE INTERVIEW. actually, some of the professors that we have are interviewers. pm me if u want any information on the interviewers =)

passion- im not attacking you or anything. I am using your post to help everyone else. the ghetto part, i use to used words loosely, and would not think twice. but when you take the professional class at uop, if u do come here, it will teach you this. Professionalism is important during the interview, and during your stay at UOP. So im not judging on where everyone grew up from, but if u want to be a pharmacist, which is a professional career, ghetto is not the way to describe things. and yea so just be careful, i have seen a friend said the b word and the administration had a talk with her. its really important to stay professional everyone.
So by all means im attacking your opinion and or anything.

hey, wat does PCHK stand for, is that the checklist that UOP sent out to let you know what classes your missing? And also do you know how many ppl get interview invite in they each tier?

A lecture on professionalism from someone named "you2hotforme". Wow, I've heard it all.

Thanks for that.

Hey, get over yourself. The data you presented said nothing about Spanos Park or $750,000 houses. Omg, regular violent crimes occur in rich areas of Stockton because Pass4Sci said so. He is credible, he patrols those streets and collects information to shove up his ass so that the next time someone claims that some areas of Stockton are less ghetto than others, he can pull data out of his ass to prove them wrong!!!!

Bottom line: cheeseboy2 is right and you are a condescending a-hole.

ok, glad we have it cleared up.

I've been in Stockton for a while now and I think it's pretty safe. I don't go to the 'hooker' street or the south part of Stockton. All I do is use my car for school and going to work or whatever. Especially with a high profile car like mine, I'm surprised all is fine and dandy.

The nice houses in Stockton are the gated community ones. They are extremely safe.

Just received my interview invite! Tier 2, there is still hope 🙂 Good luck everyone!! :luck:

Hey everyone! This is my first post =D I was wondering if anyone who has had their interview could share a little more about their experience. (also, anything about the writing sample?)

Good Luck to you all🙂

I had my interview this Friday and it was pretty casual. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you are relaxed. The interview was more like a casual conversation, and during the writing sample the student monitoring it kept saying, "Don't worry, we just want to make sure you can write complete sentences" Don't worry too much.

Thanks kogekao! Thats nice to hear! Many say that the writing sample is about a current topic..could you share the topic with us...Good luck to you 🙂

I don't know if reading these posts is helping or stressing me out! =P (Well, some make me laugh actually...) OK, so I submitted everything on Aug. 31st and have gotten letters saying that everything is complete and is being reviewed and I've also checked online and everything is fine. When should I receive my next letter? I'm so nervous. I'm nervous even typing this post, haha, not really, but you know what I mean. How many other tier 2's have gotten interview offers?

Are acceptance letter out yet? Just curious... i haven't even gone to my interview yet.

hey, did anyone in tier 2 get letters for an interview invite this week? 10/19 to now, or does ne one know if they're still sending out invitation for tier 2 or did they stop?

I scheduled my interview, its January 15th...so far awayyy :/

I don't think so. The first interview was 10/16, less than a week ago. They said it'll probably come in 3-5 weeks. So I am guessing we'll hear back in early- to mid- November.

im tier 2 as well and my interview date is 1/15... it really does seem far away =[.... so there weren't any interviews being held in Nov. as well?

i am in tier 2 too, and i just got a letter saying the same thing as the email veronica sent out recently, you all probably know that email. i am kind of disappointed...no interview invitation

I submitted tier 2 and just got my deferral letter today. I guess that's better than being straight up rejected. At least there's still some hope..:xf:

Hey everyone! Did anyone else have their interview this friday? I did.....i though it was pretty relaxed...did anyone else feel the same?

^ I was there too. I agree it was overall pretty relaxing they did a good job at calming me down. Now I'm just nervously waiting for the decision letter.

good news everyone, tier 2 is still in business, i just got my invite letter today, its dated 10/23/09
