i got an email being saying my app was looked at and put in the pile to be reconsidered at a later date at one med school and i just started a new research experience at this same school with dementia patients which I am extremely excited about and i would love to update them about because it is at their school which is my absolute dream school but i am not sure if now is an appropriate time for an update letter? or when is the best time to send these letters?
and also do i need a proper publication or accomplishment to send an update letter to schools or is starting this new research position valuable enough for the letter?

Give yourself at least 100 hours in the activity before updating. You have nothing to say other than "I started!" Given how some workers like to ghost after a day or two on the job, you need to show you stuck with it and learned something.
