I also didn't see the status page, and I'm kinda glad/kinda not that I did.......this suspense is killing me, and to top it off, I haven't heard back from my other top choice. In other words, I have no idea what the future holds for me, and I guess in 2 weeks or so I may have a good idea!!!!!!! Shows how crazy this process is.

Joker or anyone else.. thanks for the info, but I had one question. I checked my status page and it didn't say "Waitlist" but I also didn't receive that e-mail that Penn sent. Is this a bad sign? did others get it who didn't see waitlist?

No. People who didn't have "Waitlist" seem not to have gotten the email.

Someone earlier got a "waitlist" message but no email. Whether or not you got the email I think has no bearing on the decision.

i asked my friend what the lady said about that...and he said she told him something like "the email was sent to those who might have seen their status as waitlisted while the information leaked...it was not sent to those who didnt see a waitlist on their status page."

one thing to keep in mind for those of us who didnt see "Waitlist" yet...they may not have decided on us yet...although i hope that they have decided...and have decided not to waitlist us.

so...is there anyone other than that one guy on SDN who saw "Waitlist" on their status page and did NOT get the email? likewise, is there anyone here who did not see "waitlist" on their status page, but did see "committee review complete" and DID get the email?

sorry for freakin out about this...but this can definitely help those of us who saw our status pages..at least we can be a little more at ease!! 😕

I had posted earlier that I saw my status as "waitlist" but did not receive the follow-up email. My email server must have been slow because I ended up receiving it at around 10pm Monday night. It was postmarked (if you will) for much earlier in the day.

It is very possible that Penn is able to keep a record of who and when someone logs onto the status page. (One school, it may be Duke, tells you when your last logon was.) If this is the case, they probably just sent emails to the people who were waitlisted AND who logged on during the system "glitch." That makes the most sense to me.

To add more fuel to the confusion fire, I did not check my status page and was still sent an email about the computer glitch. Not sure what that means....

Oh God, now i'm really freaking out that maybe I got a straight out rejection? That would be so, so horrible.... I didn't have a chance to check my status on-line, so I have no idea if it said anything, but man, I really hope i'm not outright rejected!!!

Does anyone know what percentage of interviewees are given an outright rejection? 🙁

Hey Quideam!

From your history of posts and my gut feeling about you as a person, I honestly doubt they would outright reject you. So that means an acceptance is more than likely on its way. Good luck! I hope we get and and can be classmates. It is always nice to see people who love a school as much as I do. 🙂

None. Penn has four post-interview statuses:
Accepted
Top of tier 1 waitlist - high probability of getting in, especially if you tell them you want in
Tier 1 waitlist
Tier 2 waitlist - essentially a rejection? I'm not sure.

So there's no chance you have been "rejected".

quideam - im confused...i thought pitt was your first choice? and you also keep mentioning columbia and yale?? i mean i dont really care...but which one really is your top choice?? you seem to be equally into all the 4 schools you're waiting for...good luck for all of them!!

anyway...im glad to hear there are no rejections....

i think, based on SDN data (how, scientific, right? 😉 ) that those who got an email were sent one because they might have seen that they were waitlisted (and Penn didnt track exactly who saw the sight - because even some people who never saw the sight got the email). and those who didnt get the email weren't waitlisted...who knows.

did anyone who checked the sight see that they were in waitlist tier 2? or did everyone here see eitehr nothing or waitlist tier 1?

Hey joker,

Yep, I'm currently on a billion (well, four 🙂) "Countdown" lists! Penn is my top choice, followed by Yale/Cornell/Pitt.

My biggest concern is that my boyfriend is a second year at med school in NJ, so it would be 2 years before he could move to wherever I am (assuming he got a residency nearby)... so I would like to try and stay nearby if possible. Philly has tons of great EM residencies (what we both want to do), so it would be ideal (plus I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Penn); Cornell is in NY, so that would be great too. Yale and Pitt are both amazing, but further away... so that is my dilemma 🙂. For now, i'm just crossing my fingers for an acceptance to any of them! Lots of luck everyone!!!

I am not sure if I can go to class knowing I have the decision coming. I am on campus from 9:30am-6:10pm in class. I just do not know what I will do if I get in. 😍

Maybe I spoke with one member of the admissions staff and your friend spoke with another. I didn't ask what time they would be going out but I really didn't want to harass the admissions staff too much.

wow...it's been a long time since I've posted here. Seeing everyone so anxious and excited for med school acceptances (and Penn in particular!) reminds me of the craziness that was "the application year".

I'm at Penn and just wanted to wish everyone the best of luck tomorrow (or whenever they send out acceptances). Gaye did email us last week saying that acceptances would be sent out sometime this week. If they do it the same way as last year, you'll get notified by email to check the applicant status page. You'll get an "official" letter in the mail a couple days later.

Again...good luck to you all! Penn truly is a dream school and a fantastic place to be. I hope everyone here gets in! Regardless, if you've interviewed at Penn, I'm sure your options are as wide open as anyone else's. I'm sending out an early congrats to all of you!

I just had to say before the decisions go out that over the past couple of weeks I've been reading the different threads on this website but this one really stood out..because I love UPENN 😍 ...and I wish all of you the best. I hope you all make it in because you all seem like a great group of people and PENN would really be missing out if any one of you were not taken in.

With that said, take a deep breath and just relax...we have a little under 12 hours before we find out our fates!

hi all!... first year at penn here... just wanted to wish all of you the best of luck... penn's a pretty neat place but if you don't get in, try not to get too down because a year from now i promise you that you won't be thinking in the least about what schools you did/didn't get into... in other words, there are plenty of other schools that are just as good... anyway, again good luck & feel free to ask if you have any questions!

I spoke to Maggie Krall last week and she said that the MSTP office was just waiting for the MD office to post. So, I'm pretty sure that those decisions will be posted as well. Best of Luck!🙂
