has anyone called today to see what time they plan on sending out the emails/updating the status page?

ok..check it out..someone who's never called before..PLEASE call and find out around what time we can expect the emails...that way we don't all have to sit at our computers ALL day!! thanks to whoever does this!!! (i really really want to call, but ive called already twice this week...)
 
I've been popping out of class all day long to check my email.

why doesnt someone just call and check so we don't have to waste our time obsessively checking our email!!!
 
Well, I gave it a shot. I called the admissions office. I got a very curt "By March 15th". 🙄

Sorry I didn't have better results!

Same response here. I couldn't tell if the admissions office didn't want to tell us or if they really don't know when things are going out.

well, im assuming they wouldn't have said "emails will out tomorrow" yesterday if they didn't know...I think they're just saying that now because its easier than predicting the time.

to whose who were told yesterday that emails would go out today...did the person sound sure of what they were talking about?

man this waiting really sucks...
 
Regardless of which day Penn releaces their decision, they will likely do it towards the end of the worday, right before business hours are over. If they were to send decisions in the morning, they will be bombarded all day to answer telephone calls with quesitons. If they send them when the day is over, people have an entire night to think and calm down before they call, which is especially important in electronic communications due to inherit technical problems that individual applicants may have on their own end.

That's why I'm guessing Friday afternoon is a more probable time. This allows an entire weekend of inavailability before dealing with any quesitons or concerns. Think of how many other Friday decision dates there have been.

Also, if the emails were going out today, the person on the phone would have said so. I'm guessing they're not coming out today, and that they will come out tomorrow afternoon, right before closing (4-5PM)

It seemed like it but who knows, maybe they have been experiencing a few more delays...

Your theory makes sense... except that last year, changes to the status page were made around 11:45 AM on a Wednesday... (the first post from an SNDer finding out that he/she was waitlisted was at 11:48am).

So theorizing at this point is probably only good for letting off steam! We'll probably be stuck obsessively checking e-mail and status pages every 30 seconds for the next day or so, at least. 😉

also, i agree that they'll send the emails right before closing...

oh yeah, does anyone know how many people UPENN accepts, and how many people are put into each tier of the waiting list?
I'm assuming about 250 are accepted out of the 800 interviewed...but does anyone know for sure?

yeah i got waitlist tier 1 as well. it seems to be popular. does anyone have any idea what our chances are of getting in from this tier? also, did anyone get top of tier 1? perhaps that doesn't exist this year?

so many waitlists.. why is this? I assume they only offer 150 acceptances initially then offer the rest later as people decline. I'm hoping some of you guys will make it in. Also, where is that DR2B who loves Penn? I'm excited to know how he turned out!

waitlist tier 1. i'm withdrawing so maybe i'll be able to bump someone up on the list. congrats to you crazy brainiacs who got in though 🙂
 
waitlist tier 1, as well. penn's a great med school and a great place to be a student (i'm an undergrad here). but i'll be withdrawing from the waitlist, as i'd like to head back closer to home.
