Accepted! Hells yeah!!!! Did anyone else realize that Penn Preview is at the same time as HMS Second Look and Stanford?
Anybody want to take bets on the exact release time? (virtual bets with virtual winnings of course). Whoever posts first (with proof) and is part of the pot gets the virtual winnings. Give bet amount and day. Quote and add yourself 😀.
Durfen: $5 (Tuesday)
dottore07: $5 (Monday - 3pm if we bet on exact times)
Pot Size: $10
In here too. I was dreading they'd all be on the same weekend. Talk about multitasking --> Harvard, Yale, Stanford, UPenn second looks + biology midterm + research poster presentation. I'm excited, but seriously, what are you going to do?
Man you got it good!
someone should create a poll thread asking people to vote the following.... but i'm not sure whether to create that last category or not.
Acceptance
Tier1- preview invite
Tier1- "very strong interest"
Tier1- no fancy message
Tier2
Rejection (if invited for interview- though im not sure if this exists)
Thanks durfen! But to clarify, Stanford gave me a swift kick in the shins by rejecting me ~3 wks after I interviewed. It's Zippership who is holding Stanford as well.
wow....congrats. do they tell you about the scholarship on the status page?

Choose Penn
The Committee on Admissions appreciates your interest in Penn Med. Our current classes contain many outstanding students accepted from the waitlist and we wouldn't know what to do without them. You may be one of those students. Be sure to let us know of your continuing interest in Penn by completing the Wait List Response Form.
We know that this is an exciting time for you and that you have many choices and decisions to make. We wish you the very best and know that we will be seeing some of you here at Penn in the fall.

I have this message too. I suspect everyone does since I have the lackluster description for the tier 1 waitlist status. Sigh... So is it pretty much hopeless then? No enthusiastic wording and no Penn Preview invite, but still tier 1...
So have all the acepted students gotten an email reminder to check? I still haven't gotten mine. Maybe because I registered for Penn Preview so quickly (I got an email confirming registration for that). Speaking of which anyone know if there wil be any travel reimburesement?
So basically, this is just a lie??
Can I find out my ranking on the waitlist?
There is no rank on the waitlist. The committee has divided the waitlist into two tiers. Candidates have been notified of their tier placement to facilitate students' planning processes.
What does this Tier 1 + Penn Preview thing actually mean?
Was this done last year?

I guess the title says it all. I've got the tier 1 designation, but no Penn Preview invite, and no "exciting time" early consideration optimistic wording on my status page. Is this basically equivalent to a rejection? If so I'll be disappointed because I really loved Penn, but I do have other offers, so if that's what it is, then I'd rather go forward with those and put the uncertainty behind me. So please be honest, does plain old tier 1 = rejection?

Rumor has it that 35-40 students were pulled from the waitlist for last year's entering class. Here's to keeping hope!
my student-host told me it was less than 20, and that its been going down year after year... but he wasn't positive
