  1. Attending Physician
I usually don't do this but really only because I don't get many requests like this. At any rate, the OP is a very long time member of this forum.

****if you have a Virginia license and can work in January we have an urgent need in Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

Rates start at $425/hour and go up from there. Travel, lodging and food included. Respond “interested and able” and I will send the info.****

I do have a full Virginia license. It’s not a compact state. Ha ha. However SE Virginia is not my cup of tea. Good rates though.

Someone will be take up the offer.

I’m sure they can get someone. Im just gonna to chill in January. I’ll pickup it up more in February.

Oh, SDN is doing this now? First my email. Then my wife’s email. Then my wife’s cell phone. Then my cell phone. Then my office phone. Now SDN. It would be nice to get a reprieve. Did not expect this from SDN.

No compact licensing is a killer.
Yeah since Florida became compact state. I had less and less incentive to keep mutiple
medical license. Thank god my Virginia and California medical license.

Seems 8 state left without the compact. 2 are in the process of joining soon. So 6 states left
Californa
Oregon
New Mexico
Virginia
South Carolina
Alaska

Why is this job being circulated so much? What's wrong with the site?

If California accepted IMLC, I would dump mine immediately. 1200$ every two years sucks!

Nothing wrong with any of these jobs

It becomes a cat and mouse game with hospital admin and private anesthesia practice.

Broward health
Memphis
Grand Rapids
Now Virginia Beach.

These hospitals will bleed 5 million in anesthesia locums salaries or more each month they don’t get it under control

I’ve seen this playbook so many times over the years. Even my old small practice was a small 2.7 million subsidy in 2016. The first year the hospital bled 5 million extra cash. This was 2016 folks

They stabilized it for a while. Now it’s chaos again and they anesthesia budget is in excess of 25 million for the practice for 9 docs and 23 crna model with 2 hospifos and 18 sites of service.

Yes. Got the renewal license on Sunday!

Dear Licensee,

“It is time to renew your Physician's and Surgeon's License online. To renew your license, you must login and complete the renewal application online through your BreEZe account (www.breeze.ca.gov). You will not receive a paper renewal form.

The current biennial license renewal fee for a Physician's and Surgeon's License is $1,206. This includes the mandatory fee of $25 for the Steven M. Thompson Physician Corps Loan Repayment Program. Your renewal and payment will be processed automatically, and in most cases, approved instantly, immediately reflecting an updated expiration date online. You will be notified of any renewal deficiencies.

You must renew your license before the license expiration date. You may not engage in the practice of medicine with an expired license.”

That's a different posting at a different system. For several reasons, I would stay far away. They previously were offering a lot more which piqued my interest... until I started asking questions. Biggest question which must be asked is guaranteed time as their volume is extremely low. DM if anyone wants more details trying to stay at least pseudo-anonymous.

Too far for me. Was not even a consideration, but my recruiter sounded desperate. TBH, hard to do locums atm as home base is still the best choice for my situation. Too much effort for little return.
“Juice not worth the squeeze” as they say.

What exactly does compact state mean? If you have a license in one state you automatically have a license in the other? You prob have to jump through more hoops than that. No? I mean to get a full Florida License takes a year or more.

If it’s a compact license state (44 of them) it literally can take you less than one day to get a medical license

But if not in compact state like Virginia or California it can take 2-4 months.

I got my Virginia license in 3 weeks in 2010 But I’m super organized. Same with California’s. Took me 2 months to get it in 2004 when I finished. Florida only took me 2 months to get it in 2006. Where it took one of my bff a ridiculous 7 months to get a license. He was missing a file here. A file here. The other kicker was he was getting a small break on license fee still in fellowship. But since it took him so long. He finished fellowship so it bounced his file he under paid them and delayed it another 2 months. So he didn’t get to work to September as an attending.

The key is to be organized and follow up. Many people just don’t follow up what’s needed in their file. The compact license eliminates all that.

Take one day? Mine has been 43 days and still pending. The LOQ took less than 3 weeks. What a joke!

I did follow-up. Told me that it will reply to me in 10 business days.

You have to answer those legal questions right only for compact? DO you do drugs? Have you been treated for depression? Have you withdrawn your application in any state ? are they the same for each state?

F***in' bureaucrats!!!! Can't believe people wanna grow this bureaucracy.

I tried to get my password for my TSP brokerage account from the military. They said we will mail you a passcode for you to change your password. problem is, my address has changed and I did not fill out a change of address form for the post office. Whoever sends me mail that I did not tell my new address to gets the mail returned to them. Guess when I retire I will tackle this one.

I heard (3rd or 4th hand) that they do not have a permanent cardiac surgeon and that cardiac surgery volume is approximately zero.

I'm not looking for locums work now, but living in Virginia I try to keep an eye on things in case a meteor strikes my hospital. From time to time I get the idea that getting credentialed at some of these places would be prudent as a plan B or C option. I don't think I'd go to that system these days though.

Exactly right, and with talk elsewhere of contracts not being honored / no hours offered, it’s a high risk post to count on. I don’t think they will need coverage in the main OR.
