Hello, I have a question about submitting the AMCAS app packet. So I know I am submitting my application to October 15th deadline schools tonight. But I also have the schools that I want to also apply to for November and December days as well. I was wondering whether submitting the application packet can be done separately for schools or is it possible that we have options available where to send or not.
Please this is very URGENT for me. This is my first time and I do not want to submit the app packet for December deadline schools just yet. Thanks,
Very sorry to hear of your predicament. I understand that it's normal to apply near or at the deadline for other things and it's probably just bad advising, but I really think you missed the boat for this cycle altogether.
Med school admissions doesn't work in a way that gives the June applicant the same chance as the October applicant. Because interviews are given out on a rolling basis starting in August, when you apply at the deadline and add 2 weeks for AMCAS verification and secondary application submission it puts your application on the desk for initial review in November, at a point where at least half of interviews have either been scheduled or already occurred. I really recommend you wait and apply in June 2018.
If you apply now you do so with very diminished chances of success, and when you reapply you will be at a disadvantage. As a reapplicant you will have to have something to show your application is worth reviewing again, and your only changes will be the timing of your submission.
I recommend you come to terms with this, do some research about it (so you know that we are not just making this up), work on plans to make yourself an even better first-time applicant in June, and do not submit your application this year.
Again, very sorry to hear about your predicament. This could have been easily avoided with competent advising.
@Goro and
@LizzyM are both admissions officers at different schools and can give a good administrative perspective.
Just my perspective.
