Hello, I have a question about submitting the AMCAS app packet. So I know I am submitting my application to October 15th deadline schools tonight. But I also have the schools that I want to also apply to for November and December days as well. I was wondering whether submitting the application packet can be done separately for schools or is it possible that we have options available where to send or not.

Please this is very URGENT for me. This is my first time and I do not want to submit the app packet for December deadline schools just yet. Thanks,

you submit the letter packet to amcas so it is part of your complete application. only schools you added to the list on amcas will get your primary application so if you don't want some schools to get your letters yet, then don't add them to the list of applied to schools. if you already applied to these schools, im not sure you can avoid them getting it

EDIT: misread. what do you mean by app packet?

Oh no... Has your application been processed yet?

I'm not sure what you mean by AMCAS app packet. Can you give us more detail? You mean the AMCAS primary application?

What I meant is:

I have schools A, B, C for deadline tomorrow.
I have schools D, E for deadline November.

Then for now I submit the entire application for schools ABCDE all at once?

You can add more schools after you submit your AMCAS, but this is really, really late, as I'm sure other people here will remind you. You also won't be able to change your AMCAS between schools -- the same app will go out to every school.

Or is it possible I just press the submission order for ABC for now and just save DE for later

Yes, but WHICH deadline? For your primary application? The primary application is only one. Once you submit, you can add more schools but you cannot modify its content, so make sure EVERYTHING is correct/proofread before you submit. Also, 150% would NOT recommend for you to apply now. Wait until June 1st next year to submit (matriculation 2019).

your initial submit can be just 1 school. it can be A B and C. and later you can add D and E. but its late for MD so think twice. plus, with a deadline tomorrow, i doubt you will make it because the app needs to be verified and thatll take like 2 weeks at this point

It should be noted that once you submit your application to A, b, and c you will not be able to edit it for schools c and d.

If it is ready why the hell would you not just submit all schools now? Rather than wait for each “deadline” it would be foolish to submit application on the last day possible for every school?
Ps it’s already late to submit, I would wait untill next year so that you don’t possibly have to be a reapplicant

Once you hit submit the application its locked. All schools see the same AMCAS application. You can choose to apply to other schools later on. For example, after submitting my initial application to 19 schools I decided to add 2 more once I was sure they would accept a substituted letter of recommendation. You can submit to the December deadline schools later but it would be the same application. The only reason you'd ever want to do this, theoretically, is if you don't yet have an letter of recommendation for those schools that you need and plan to get it between now and then.

Also once you submit the application it will take several weeks for your transcripts to be verified. If the school wants a COMPLETE AMCAS application by October 15th you've missed the deadline.

Wait until next year and learn how this process works. If you're submitting at the 11th hour, before the DEADLINE, there might be a lot you don't understand about medical school applications. You might have made other mistakes which risk tanking your app further. You don't want to be a re-applicant.

It's too late in the cycle unless you are a superstar.

Your state school will be your best shot at this point.

Very sorry to hear of your predicament. I understand that it's normal to apply near or at the deadline for other things and it's probably just bad advising, but I really think you missed the boat for this cycle altogether.

Med school admissions doesn't work in a way that gives the June applicant the same chance as the October applicant. Because interviews are given out on a rolling basis starting in August, when you apply at the deadline and add 2 weeks for AMCAS verification and secondary application submission it puts your application on the desk for initial review in November, at a point where at least half of interviews have either been scheduled or already occurred. I really recommend you wait and apply in June 2018.

If you apply now you do so with very diminished chances of success, and when you reapply you will be at a disadvantage. As a reapplicant you will have to have something to show your application is worth reviewing again, and your only changes will be the timing of your submission.

I recommend you come to terms with this, do some research about it (so you know that we are not just making this up), work on plans to make yourself an even better first-time applicant in June, and do not submit your application this year.

Again, very sorry to hear about your predicament. This could have been easily avoided with competent advising. @Goro and @LizzyM are both admissions officers at different schools and can give a good administrative perspective.

Just my perspective.
