Does anybody have a username and password that they could PM me so I could log into the US News ranking? Thanks a bunch

Actually there's alot more stuff online than in the magazine. I don't think the magazine goes down to rank 62 and it doesn't have all the info about each school, etc. OP, I doubt anyone will give you their personal info...I would just buy it yourself.

I probably should buy it myself (was trying to save for those $%@ application fees). Anyway, I already have the MSAR. Does anybody think the US News Ranking will be helpful ?

The Average MCAT, GPA's and acceptance rates will be helpful. They show just how many in state-out of state applicants they take, as well as comparing average debt, %receiving grants/scholarship, and NIH funding in the online version.

I must say that I dont give weight to the Actual rankings because if you read the methodology by which they rank them they are have nothing to do with how good a school is. #1 If you look at the peer and residency directors assesment only about 30% of those that received the survey responded, so it introduces inaccuracey and regional bias. #2 who cares about faculty to student ratio, a high ratio means that there are abunch of professors writing research grants all the time and not teaching. #3 there is no mention of board scores or anything that equates to the educational value of the school. #4 a bunch of research money doesnt do a med student any good unless youre really into research. #5 who cares how many graduates go into primary care, this once again tells us nothing about the education those graduates received. I hate these rankings and i especially dispise those premeds who take them too seriously.
Hope these rants helped!!

I found the USNews online subscription rather useful on the interview trail.

Really? In what way? I had not planned to subscribe but I will if there is a compelling reason to do so.

The biggest reason is the applied/interviewed/accepted/matriculated information for each school, split by in-state and out-of-state. This came in handy especially talking to fellow interviewees who seemingly had no idea where they stood odds-wise - I was able to pull out my print out for the school and run down the numbers with them.

The report also contains detailed curriculum information and a lengthy discussion of what the school is looking for. The subscription was pretty cheap, and I feel a reasonable value. Nothing earthshattering, but I wanted every advantage.

I agree. Usnews has alot of information about each school that you can't find in MSAR. Personally, I thought it was worth the price.

Thanks, guys, I think I'll check it out!
