USC Class of 2012: Trojan Family Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm from Orange County too and didn't get anything.

I'm from OC too. Interviewed in March. So Monday is the day.

I'm in NorCal.. waiting for the mail Monday is sure gonna be hard. But congrats you guys!

Congrats to all who've received acceptances 😀😍 😍😍 After all your hard work, patience, and perseverance you guys deserve every bit of this happy news!!!

congrats everyone! I live in Los Angeles and I interviewed in November and was placed on active consideration... does the letter say how many have been pulled from active consideration this round, how many seats are left, and how many people were accepted this past round? .... I'm either rejected or still on active bc I didn't recieve anything and I live in LA...damn

The letter is not like the ac one as far as seats filled and wait list information. The date on the top of the letter is 4/17.

The statistic data should be on the letter for active consideration, it doesn't say on the acceptance letter.

🙂 I got in as of 4/17 as well. I interviewed in November and was put on ac. I haven't filled out anything financial-aid-wise yet but I will this week. I know FAFSA has a deadline over a year from now, but will I run into any obstacles with USC? Don't blame me for putting it off I didnt think I would be so IN! (UoP pretty much told me I was at the bottom of their waitlist and didnt seem to care.)

My understanding is that I have to:

1- fill out my online USC profile
2- fill out my FAFSA
3-...what else?

USC's deadlines are so early. I hope I'm not putting a burden on USC's finance department by doing this a short 4 months before school starts?

The FAFSA was actually due in February of this year, but you I guess you could try to still submit it. The USC supplemental is due May 5th, so better get on that now! I'm not exactly sure what this means for you, but you may not be able to get the Staffod loan, which has the best interest rate. You shuld still be able to get private loans.

my friend, who lives in the OC, got her acceptance letter today....👍

Congrats to everyone,

I also got my acceptance letter on Saturday, dated 4/17/08. I'm in LA area.

I will be declining the offer to attend UCSD instead. Make someone waiting for a spot happy?

For those who have just been accepted in this last round, can you please post your stats? Thank you!

OmG, i just got my acceptance letter today! i live in Norcal!!

All these MONTHS of waiting finally paid off. I have a school to go to now!!! 😀

I was one of the "back-up" interviewees too.. and i felt like my interview didn't go that well. BUT i got accepted. i can't believe it!!!!!

Stats: 3.5 cum gpa, 3.5 sci gpa
summer volunteer at retail pharmacy
BA in Biology

Congratulations on all new acceptances. I was thinking about this all day at work today and I was so anxious to go home and check the mail. I went home and nothing from USC. I am so nervous and scared at the same time.

Does anyone know if USC sent out acceptances first or all the letters including Active Considerations and rejected too? OMG, I guess i'll just have to wait until tomorrow to see. Whenever USC sent out the letters, I usually receive it in about 2 days or so.😱

Haha I was so anxious too that I went back home during work to check the mailbox :/
I live in Norcal and nothing for me yet.. or maybe the mailman didn't come yet...?

Anyone received active consideration or rejection letter?
If you did, did it say how many got in from the November interviews?

Thanks in advance!!

congrats to those accepted 👍, if your planning to attend USC this coming fall, join the facebook group online!

For those who have just been accepted in this last round, can you please post your stats? Thank you!

Hey I interviewed in November, but got my acceptance letter Saturday.

My Stats:

Cum: 3.52
Science: 3.5 ish (dont remember)
USC gpa (they calculate the pre-req): 3.69
Getting my BS in biochem and BA in bio this May
Experience: 7 years of working at a community pharmacy, worked for Savon for a few months, also volunteered at an in-patient pharmacy (hospital), and another small community pharmacy.... OH and I have my pharm tech license.
I've also done research, was the VP of the pre-pharmacy club, and many other extracurricular activities.

Good luck to you guys that are still waiting. :luck:

Just got in. Important questions for any P1 students, were the 8 am classes recorded? Will they be recorded for next year's class?(Best Guess) This will be the determining factor of whether I move out or not.

I got the big fat yellow envelope today also. I am so happyyyyy. :hardy::clap::banana::biglove::corny:. I am a re-applicant (did not apply to USC last year though) I was on hold at Western, waitlisted at MCPHS-Boston 😡. But I got in USC :meanie:. My stats are cGPA:3.5, sGPA 3.5, volunteered at LLU Medical Center, currently working at a lab testing company. Good luck to everyone and see you guys in the fall.

I'm not a P1, but I heard from a current student that for one semester, their teacher would give pop quizzes at 8 am SHARP (and the quizzes would last for a couple of minutes). So I don't think you'd want to sleep in on those days or even be late.

I'm not a morning person either... 😴

Hello, I'm from norcal as well and got my acceptance letter today (I interviewed in March).

My stats: cGPA: 3.2 / sGPA: 3.1. Graduated with BS in Biochemistry from UCD. I also have ~1.5 years of pharmacy clerk/technician experience.

I am now greatly relieved as this is the only school I applied for this year.

Anyways, good luck to everyone else!

for those still waiting...i just called USC and they said they are gona send another round of acceptances and all status updates this friday, so saturday we get mail! (hopefully good news)

What do you mean by status updates? Are they going to send out all the remaining acceptance , active consideration and rejection letter? Thanks.

Thanks for the info.. I think this waiting is the hardest part of all!

Speaking of quizzes-

Do some classes have a quiz every class period or week? Do some have several pop quizzes throughout the semester?

there are gona be acceptances, rejections, and then some offers for the official waitlist where u get a number of wher u stand on the list.

according to my last call with them (today)- they said that it would be some time next week. When asked about the number on the waiting list, they said that we should be able to find that out next week as well (but he didn't sound too sure). I wonder why there are these discrepancies????

Nobody has a quiz EVERY class period, but there are several that have somewhat frequent quizzes and none have been (officially) announced.
1st Semester:Healthcare Delivery had 5 (or 6?) quizzes, BioSystems is variable, however many the course coordinator decides, none in Biochem or in Pharmaceutical Chem and Quiz questions interspersed through lectures in 1st semester pharmacy practice.
2nd Semester: BioSystems is the same, whatever she decides, but usually at least 1 every other week. I don't remember in Public Health, I don't think we had any😕. Pharmacy Calculations 1/week. Pharmaceutical Chem none, and Genetics is variable ~1 every other week. Compounding is ~1/wk.
That should cover it.

um that's too many quizzes for me I think I will have to defer admission.. an extremely relevant question if you absolutely cannot wait for the syllabus lol

In case anybody was wondering, here is the stats I received in my letter today:

After March interview an additional 77 candidates have been admitted, 157 candidates denied, and the "active consideration" group from Nov to March totals 130.

Thank you for sharing it with us!
By the way, you are from north Cal or South Cal?
Just want to have an idea when my letter will come, whatever that will be...

I am from Los Angeles, I just received my letter today (April 24th).

YAYYYYYY!!! I just got my acceptance letter today!!! I'm sooo happyyyy!!!!! 😀😀😀 I was really worried earlier this week b/c I didn't get it on Sat or Mon like a lot of people on here. Good luck to anyone still waiting and congrats to others who got in too!!!!! :biglove:

Anyone know what the typical schedule for the first year is like? Specifically, what times are classes each day? When are we supposed to get this information?

Did it say how many people out of the 77 accepted were from previous active consideration list? Just wondering. Thanks.

55/95 Nov
42/58 Jan
45/35 Feb

142 accepted 188 active consideration 17 rejected
- 2 declined -55 rejected (frm N &J)+ 55 rejected
+ 7 actv co - 7 accepted
--------------------------------------------------
145 accepted 126 active consideration 72 rejected

40 seats/(126+100)

(Provided that all the numbers are accurate.)

See ya on Saturday

Makes for interesting math. That would bring the total accepted to 222. Obviously there have been people who declined, but I wonder what the total class size is up to right now. Did 32 people decline, leaving a class of 190, or are they above 190 just counting on some more to decline?

I am sure they accept many people from active consideration for the last round, did it say how many?

To answer shehsheh and misspharm, no additional information was given.

dangit...got wait listed tambien.

out of curiosity can someone fill me in on what to expect from the wait list in terms of movement. i have a feeling that at this point in the game the wait list isn't going to budge very much. is this true?

Dangit.... i just got the AC letter today as well 🙁

We have until May 7 to accept our official waitlist position. Oh well, at least it's not a rejection......

I'd expect no more than 10-15% of the waitlist to get in. It's different every year though. Last year I think there were 5 SDNer's that came in off of waitlist. At least that's what I recall without taking a look at last year's thread.

Yea I got my Acitve consideration letter today too. Cant wait to know where I get placed on the list, I think that will tell what kind of chances we have of getting in.

For those who applied for USC financial aid, do you know when we will receive information on loans from USC?? Thanks.
