USC Class of 2013

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but most students who are accepted aren't accepted in the first batch (of 25). Realistically, this means that many students will have to wait until the next round of interviews to start getting accepted.

That's a tough situation you're in especially with a $2000 deposit.. That seems ridiculously high (isn't USC $500?)

U should call USC on december 5th and hopefully they will tell you the result. Lets us know if they are going to tell you over the phone...

on USC's website, it said that they will send out results 4-5 weeks after the interview date so for those who had Nov. 15 interviews, it should come Dec. 15 or later.

Mr. Granderson, the director of admissions, said 2-3 weeks at the interview, but with the holidays I'd be surprised if it even came by December 15. =/

Looks like last year they got it exactly 3 weeks after the interview date in November. This is according to the forums. AHhh... I hate the waiting...

Yep looks like they got it Dec 7-9 last year.. 😱:scared:

Yeah I'd bet we'll hear from them at the 3 week mark.

edit: They interviewed on Nov 10 right? And they heard on Dec 8 - just about 4 weeks after the interview date.

Yep, that's what I remember as well. It's going to take 4 weeks.

Even so, I hope what the director of Admissions said holds true. He said we'll hear by 3 weeks. 3 weeks is coming in a couple of days! So anxious .........

Possibly, I hope so as well. Xin Gong said that the admission's committee will be meeting on Dec. 5th to decide who will be accepted. Also, they'll be mailing out the acceptance letters the following week. I'm not sure what day of the week though. Hope that helps everyone.🙂

USC usually sends mails on Thursday so if you live in the L.A area, you will get it on a Friday.

Thanks! That does help a lot. I swear the waiting part after the interview is more nerve-racking than the actual interview itself!

Did you call for this information?

When will they sent out interview invite for application submitted on late oct 08? thanks

The next interview date is January 24th, meaning the next invites should be going out near the end of December. Whether you made it in time for that interview or not, nobody will be able to tell you...but that is when the next session is.

It depends. If your application is gold, you may be invited for the January interview (if you haven't been invited already). If it's more on the moderate side, then you more likely will get the February or March interview.

Is it better to interview earlier? I mean, if you interviewed in Feb. or even March, more seats are taken, but it doesn't mean all the seats will be occupied by then.

What do you guys think (or can you share your experiences)? Does anyone know how this works at USC?

Interviewing earlier is advantageous, from my understanding. Interviewees who will not be admitted from this first November interview will be thrown in the January, then Feb and so on.

i already got a letter from usc today. i thought it would be coming next week. anyway, the letter said that 56 people got accepted and 89 have been put on hold. nobody has been rejected. im part of the "lucky 89", haha! i'm not that upset though.

wow you're kidding. did you interview in november? did they say what # were you on the list?

yeah i interviewed on 11/15. as for what number i am, the letter doesnt say. however, it says that:

"our office will continue to keep you informed about the admission process. therefore, everyone in the applicant pool will be aware of his/her status. the ranking of applicants with "active consideration" status will not be completed until after the final interview has been completed. the last interview session for this academic year is march 21, 2009".

i guess i won't know for a LONG TIME. however, i already accepted another school, so usc is not that big of a deal for me. plus, i kinda want to get the hell away from southern california.

On one hand USC has been around for awhile so it may be hard to get off waitlist, but there are several school most people will rather attend such as the UCs.

Don't worry. I know first years that interviewed in November, got waitlisted and surprisingly got in after the Jan, Feb, and March interviews. I know a girl who interviewed in March and got wailisted, then admitted in August before Matriculation.

USC is not peoples' first choice. A lot decline their acceptance after hearing from UC pharmacy schools or even UOP.

Actually only about 25% of the people who get accepted turn it down. Just keep on sending in your latest transcripts or anything that may impress the admissions committee.

so... who has usc as their first choice here?

Mee!!! I can't believe they already sent it out so early! I have exams so I can't go home to check(3hr drive) until next Thursday!!😱

Which area do you live in? I'm just wondering how long the mail will take to get to me as I'm waiting to hear back from usc. thanks

ME TOO!!!!!!!!! so if i didnt get a letter today.. does that mean im not on the waitlist?? hm....

I would say it's my 1st choice or a 1a for me. I loved my visit there. The only issue for me would be the cost, I'd need to see what my loan repayment would look like after four years in sunny LA.

"The Admission Committee of the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy is pleased to inform you of your acceptance into the Doctor of Pharmacy program for the Fall 2009 semester."

Good luck everyone.

same here.... So will this mean that they won't accept anyone off the active consideration list until march or that they won't have a number for us until then?

Also, I know to send in new transcripts and such to keep them updated, but do you think I can write a letter for some extracurriculars that I am getting involved with now (business competition)

I got the nice, big envelope today as well. Good luck to all those still waiting. :xf:

I just got the big yellow envelope today as well and I live in San Diego. It is usually delayed a day, but I guess mail was really fast this week. For my interview invite, it came a day later than those near the LA area. Good luck everyone!🙂

I got the sad little white envelope, what a bummer.

Its scary that I live in the LA area and didn't receive a thing yet, while someone in SD already receives a letter.

Congrats to everyone and hopefully more of us will hear tomorrow!

i got "active consideration" too. pretty bummed since usc really impressed me and i really want to go there after talking to the current students, but i'll stay optimistic.

When did you all receive the letter? Was it postmarked Friday, Dec 5?

may i ask what your stats were for those who were accepted?
and the person in san diego, do you perhaps go to ucsd?

i got mine on december 6th, saturday. i live in los angeles, about 30-40 minutes away from usc. it was postmarked on the 5th.
