Anyone that's already going to USC or knows the HSC area please answer my question:

Of the following parking lots, which is closest to the pharmacy building?
HSP. Health Sciences Campus Parking Structure
SSP. Health Sciences Campus Lot SSP
71. Health Sciences Campus Lot 71

I can't seem to find these structures on their parking structure map and I cant seem to google it. Anyone offer any advice? Thanks.

the only choices you have is SSP or lot 71. Choose Lot 71.

Lot 71, that is where all of the pharmacy students park. I actually met a few friends walking from the parking lot to lectures.

San Pablo is really the same distance away, but it's up the hill....so unless you want a nice walk up the hill sweating every morning, choose lot 71 (nothing against exercise .... 🙂).

Why can't we get a permit at HSP (Parking sturcture 6)? Are those lots already full?

I don't think those lots are available to us. We only get 2 lots: 71 and SSP....that's just what I heard...

TOMORROW'S DAY TO GET YOUR PASSES PEOPLE...12 NOON...DONT FORGET!!!

You can park in the parking structure after 5 p.m. during the weekdays and anytime during the weekend with your lot 71 permit.

Yeah, the website was deceiving - it listed HSP there, but its already been sold out. Was everyone else having trouble getting the permit? The entire world was on there, so I got about a million error pages before I finally got through the whole thing..

I ordered mine around 12:50 and didn't have any problems. Is lot 71 really whats listed as "lot 70" on the HSC Map? Because in the legend they have no lot 71, but "lot 70" is right on the other side of Biggy St.

I got mine (lot 71) at 3pm and it's not sold out yet.. they make it seem like you must be online sitting at your computer with your hand on the mouse at exactly 12pm .. "cuz parking is severely limited!!!" hahaha.. I supposed some other lots on the main campus are like that??

weird..

No Lot 71 is not Lot 70
Lot 71 = Zonal Lot
SSP = San Pablo Lot

Does anyone know if the permit is a sticker you permanently affix to your car or is it a hanging permit you can remove?

You have to permanently affix it.

oh.. what if you have two cars? can you register both of them? what if your car is in the shop? can u get a temporary permit for like a week? these questions just came into my mind since my car happened to be in the shop today and I drove my dad's car to work...

No big deal if u dont know.. I'll just worry about at my next 10,000 mile service...

 see, my friends and I did it at EXACTLY 12:00 pm.. I'm guessing it was the main campus commuters that were tying up the site.. I also was under the impression that I would have to go buy SSP if I waiting till 12:15 or 12:30 ahahaha.. i'm just happy i got a permit - i finally get to have my car! (my car collected dust in my parents' garage throughout undergrad because the 'rents thought I would go out every waking moment if i took my car)

ok, my friend bought Lot 71 half an hour ago, so it is not sold out. Last year, it was still not sold out 3 days after the start of sale, so dont panic 🙂

Jammocah, thanks for clearing up the lot 71 stuff.

Tanyas- so, how was your first year?

I just noticed Tanyas' signature: "yay...P1 is over, I am a P2 now "

 is that excitement i sense or was it that bad?

hey guys...

don't freak out about getting parking permit. you WILL get parking. If you want LOT 71... buy the permit within the next few days. If you don't get lot 71, SSP is not that bad. its just an extra 1 min walk or something.

if you have two cars... no worries... you don't have to permanently fix your parking permit. i just taped mine on. just don't get caught

Oh, that's excitement, especially after finding out our OTC grades 🙂 It's so nice to have a vacation....

Tanyas, speaking of grades, something I've wondered about a lot is are there many (any?) people who struggle to stay in school?

Actually, my bad, I just re-read the academic policies and see that disqualification occurs for P1's below 2.1 at the end of the year, or P2/P3's whose cumulative is below 2.2. For some reason I though it was 2.8, which I thought was quite high. But still, is it that hard/do you see it happen at all?

I also see that getting a D or F puts you on Academic Probation. I would figure there's more than a handful of students who get a D/F in a class. But i'm not sure how courses are graded (ie breakdown of A/B/C etc). What percentage would you say get A's/B's/C's in a given course out of the ~185 people in your class?

Thanks for any info, just been curious about all that.

As for the number of people who struggle to stay in school... it varies on the class. Some class just do better in school.

With the my class, there was about 10 people were held back during the first semester. Half of those people, had personal/family problems which held them back; the other half did not pass due to academic reasons. In general, everyone pass their classes.

As with grade distribution, it really depends on the professors and the class. Almost everyone get As and Bs.

The GPA requirement... the for level 1 (btw at USC we go by level 1, level 2... not P1, P2...), an overall 2.7 GPA is required to progress.... a 3.0 is required by the time you graduate.

In general, you shouldn't worry too much about grades. If you put an honest effort, you will pass. I am very involved in school and participate in almost every event and I still manage to do well and pass my classes. If you happen to struggle in a specific course, tutors are available and will help you pass.

take cares!!!

good info, thanks Zen...... you didn't happen to be a speaker at the Q/A session after one of the interviews this year did you?

Well, I have to agree with what Steve said. Yes, there were people that failed classes the first semester for various reasons, and there are probably some that failed this semester. However, overall most people pass. For one of the classes this semester, half of the class got Bs, 30%-As, and 20%-C. In general, it depends on a person how much they need to study. I have friends that can study way less than me and get the same grades....just remember that all you need are Bs .... 🙂 Dont worry, you will be fine
