The difference is negligible, so financials aren't playing a big role in my decision.

Based on your pros and cons list (primarily the proximity to your support system and wanting to match back to the west coast) I would say USC (although I haven’t looked at recent match lists of either school). But if you think that you and your SO could go long distance and you want a fresh start northwestern is a solid option

Keck due to having friends and SO nearby for support as well as easier flights to family. Avoiding the Chicago cold is a major plus too.

Northwestern doesn’t seem to offer any distinct advantages aside from a new experience. And you will meet a lot of new people at USC still.
