USC seems to rank much higher than UoP, but in the Bay Area, I mostly hear about UoP. Is that because I live in the Bay Area or is UoP truly better than USC in pharmacy?

It's likely due to location; UoP is closer to the Bay Area so people are likely to move there post graduation while USC grads are more likely to stay in SoCal. Quality likely has little to do with it.

USC is sooooo overpriced. I left the state.

Why would anyone ever pay private tuition for pharmacy school? that is so f-ing stupid

believe or not..rank does not stands for everything of school..especially if they are already accredited.. and UoP is another very good school there.

yes, I 100% agree on this. I'm from Los Angeles..so I know how much you need to spend for living too.

because everyone wants to go to pharmacy school..and there are not enough public schools for all of them. by the way, CA public schools tuition are +30k too...

UoP is a fake school thoug? doesnt it produce fake pharmacists?
I'm hoping you are just trolling or being sarcastic.
The ranking of pharmacy schools honestly mean nothing. There have been many threads on SDN that debated this. The general consensus was that ranking has a lot to do with grant $$ and research. Many schools opt out of ranking as well.
If the ranking was based on NAPLEX pass rates, getting residencies, etc. then the ranking might mean something. However at this moment it's quite meaningless.
Honestly go to the school where you feel more comfortable in. If you can handle the 3 year program at UOP, go there. If you can't and $$$ is not an issue, go to USC.

Usually I don't call out comments like this but can you explain what you're trying to say linda. What is a "fake school" and a "fake pharmacist." Do you have a basis for these questions, or is it more of an opinion and asking out of curiosity.

who decided it was the "general consensus"
And who decided "UOP is a fake school" that produces "fake pharmacists?"🙄
Honestly, search SDN and find the debates/discussions about school ranking. They don't mean jack. If the rankings were actually based on academic graduation rates, matching residencies, and NAPLEX pass rates, then maybe rankings might mean something. However, the way they rank pharmacy schools does not portray any of these (and it has already been established that rankings come from research and grant $$), therefore the rank of schools does not mean anything unless you are going into research (to have more research opportunities).
Your pharmacy education is based on what you, as an individual, learn from the program.

She is just trolling or throwing out her elitist propaganda.
I also found it quite ironic that she has such a mentality, especially since she went to CSU with a 3.2 GPA and yet is talking down pharmacy schools. It would be almost similar to if I started talking down her undergrad schooling at CSU compared to any UC school (UC Berkley, UCLA, etc.)

well csu chico is ranked as one of the top schools in california, probbaly over ucla and just below berkeley (check your spelling plz) so a 3.2 from there is indicative of my abilities to be one of the best pharmacists ever. on the other hand, UoP is not very established and cant compete with the real schools like ucsf, ucsd or usc, this is just from my experiences as working as tech at pharmacies and seeing cali people, the uc or usc students know much more than uop and counsel much better, have much less questions and know a lot more. just my 4 cents
So let me get this straight... yes I misspelled "Berkeley" (thank you for that 🙂) but are you seriously trying to tell me to "check my spelling plz" when you can't even spell "probbaly" (probably) accurate? Oh, the irony!!
No offense, but CSU is not one of the best and brightest. It's a great school, but it's no Stanford (and it is not above UCLA). And 3.2 is also a pretty low GPA compared to many pre-pharm students who have at least a 3.6+ (and are from better schools in Cali).
So you are basing your experiences as a tech dealing with UOP students as the reason for offensively stating it's a "fake school with fake pharmacists?" 🙄
There are good and bad pharmacists from every school. And plenty people here on these forums have gone to UOP and are great pharmacists. My point is, don't bash other schools so outright without more concrete evidence other than "your tech experience." If you posted low NAPLEX scores, low residency match rates, low graduation rates, then yes maybe I can understand why someone would choose USC over UOP. But you didn't provide any substantial evidence other than your "tech experience" and "seeing Cali people," which isn't good enough.
I also find it quite funny that you put UOP down so negatively being new, yet you applied to California Northstate University, which is also a newer pharmacy program.
