bumping this, because, well, i feel like it.................and because i'm getting antsy......that's a funny word, antsy......

OK...so just a few days until the next AMCAS cycle and of course I'm surfing SDN rather than revising my PS like I should be.

So I figure I'll bump while I'm here and keep this thread going until one of us gets a call *knocks on wood*

I wish I had the grades to apply ED, but unfortunately I do not. If only you had the option to drop a section of your AMCAS or at least explain it away, that would be it. But then getting in wouldn't be so much fun 🙄

Just praying that I get that call before I pony up another 700 bucks or so for this year. As much as I love supporting the AAMC and all the adcoms single-handedly, it's getting to be a bit of a financial drain.

yeah, i've probably lined AAMC's pockets with about $4000....$1500 of which they stole from me 🙁

anyway, i hope you get the call....i've been in your spot before (last year) and it sucks...the only difference between this year and last year is that i applied to penn state...and got in...
i regret not applying to uc davis though....i probably should have....

I called this morning to make sure that they had received my withdraw letter, etc. I asked them about the waitlist and they said that last year, 17% of the class (of 160) was off the waitlist (27 people by my calculations). They also said that it has not moved yet, and that it usually starts moving and sees the most activity in June. When you get taken off the waitlist, they will call you. She said that they will start taking people pretty soon, and keep taking people up until the first day of school.

Good luck to everyone, especially camstah. No need to worry or give up hope yet! 🙂

Just came back to SDN after many months away and thought I'd add to the USC waitlist, also continuously hoping for an acceptance. I actually interviewed for the MD/PhD program at USC back in November and got a letter in mid April putting me on the wait list for the MD program. No I didnt get in (kinda wanted to see that school too 😡 ), but I know someone there. I wanted to get his info to compare USC to a UC. He says he'll get a $70k debt (he is going into his 4th year though so he didnt see quite the cost that entering students will in four years.)

oh, i see...it's about that financial aid thing...well, does it matter to you? you're going to usc anyway, and for me, no matter what it'll be a private school, so moot point....
and anyway, i can compare my bro's debt (UCSD) to his wife's (loma linda) $50,000 to $150,000.......
but to me it doesn't matter anyway.....i don't have the luxury of choosing between a uc and usc 🙂

Ok my buddy got back to me. The 25k he got was merit-based (didnt even apply for it.) He did point out that you can do things to get the debt down like fellowships and TAing; in fact he will be our TA for abdominal gross anatomy. Still looks like the same difference between the UC and USC (about 100k.)

I was told by the admissions office that if you were taken off of the waitlist, they would call you. I think this is standard practice in order to keep their # accepted to a minimum (that way they get you to say you will go before they send an official acceptance).

hmmm...i don't know if that's good news though...how much movement will happen, i guess that's the question....for now we know the class is full, and i don't see anyone on sdn at least dropping their usc acceptance anytime soon (as of today)......anyone on a waitlist for which they'd give up a usc acceptance? anyone? anyone?

Has anyone seen Bubba Ho-Tep? I heard it was great but didn't get a chance to see it when it was out in theaters. Guess I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD.

Bubba Ho-Tep is out now on DVD- saw it last weekend. If you watch it with fellow Bruce Campbell fans, you'll enjoy it, otherwise it's not the greatest.
Anyway, if you're a fan of Bruce, I hope you get into USC!
