For those of you using multiple test prep companies for extra practice passage how well do you scores correlate between companies on a particular topic?

For example, If you are using TBR for content review, and using TBR + TPR for practice passages, are your scores similar? Thanks

I used TBR for content review and have done all the TBR passages and some of the TPR ones. I think I do better on TPRH, but feel more comfortable on TBR if that makes sense. TPRH seems to be more calculations for the physics section, but most of the TBR stuff seems like I can do it all in my head. I heard the opposite when I picked up the books, but I think the calculations take really long for TPRH passages I've done so far.

Score-wise, I get about 75-80% correct on TBR and 80-90% correct on TPRH passages. Though, I don't always cut myself off when time runs out because I want to make sure I go through all the questions.

TPR Hyperlearning passages generally take me longer to do since there's some more math intensive stuff in there usually. But, no mistake, TBR passages provide a better bang for your buck.

I had previously prepped for the MCAT with TPR and gotten a 30, but a ****ty PS score. Which is debatably the easier section of the 3 multiple choice sections. But for some reason I just wasn't well prepared for my PS section. It was way less math, and way more conceptual wordy type problems and answers. I think I used a total of 2 physics formulas on my test, one of those being v = frequency times wavelength.

So go figure? Some people say "omg, my MCAT was all math" and vice versa. Depends on your test day. You should be prepared for both. I think TBR does a great job of preparing you for both types of problems. Whereas TPR focuses very heavily on the math. This might have been the case 5-7 years ago, but certainly not anymore.

I will get back to you following my January MCAT rewrite...

Hey codeblue,

Was ur Jan MCAt math intensive? How closely did it correspond with the TBR type passages? Thanks.

Can anyone else comment on how math intensive recent MCATs have been in the physical science section?
