Police exchanged gunfire and killed a man who had allegedly shot and killed his wife earlier today. The shootout with police occurred in a church parking lot in West University.
Earlier in the day, the man allegedly shot his wife at an apartment complex near Reliant Park in the 1800 block of El Paseo. He then took her body and loaded it into his car before taking off.
A West University police officer found the suspect after reports of a man with a gun in the parking lot of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in the 3800 block of Bellaire.
