I don't know... my last name begins with an S. Who knows, this process is so ridiculous. Try not to over think it and make yourself crazy. I am not taking that change as a good sign or a bad sign.
GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!!!

I emailed the ONLINE APP CNTR last night ... and Patricia Forguites, the Admissions Specialist lady, she responded today that, yes indeed the status review date has been changed to May 25th, and that they will get back to us with the new rank info as soon as possible.
I know, I know ... rather vague, but that's not really unusual, is it? 🙄
Also ... those of you whose review date still says the 15th, today is the 16th, and as of yet, I haven't seen any of you claim to have gotten news. I'm fairly convinced it's gonna be 10 more days for all of us ... and that the manual 1-by-1 edit isn't that nutso of a notion anymore.
But, one of you 15thers ... feel free to prove me wrong if you do hear sometime sooner ... hell, I'd rather get word of impending news sooner than later.

Has anyone's waitlist moved???
I hate that they changed the date to the 25th- it makes me feel like I couldn't even make the real waitlist.

Congrats, bklynMD. Hope that everyone else on the thread gets similar news soon...I JUST GOT ACCEPTED OFF THE WAITLIST!!!
Congrats, Sandros1! Nicely done...I just logged in for fun and saw I was accepted! 11pm MDT.
I logged on at about 11am on the Tuesday and my status page still read the 15th. I logged in again at about 3pm (I know, I'm a bit compulsive) as my best friend from Waitsfield was actually here visiting, and it had been changed to the 25th. Good luck to all still waiting.

infinite, do you know if this was before or after the implementation of the VIC? I heard the stats changed quite a bit in the past couple of years. I certainly hope it was just a rumor!

I am not sure if it was before or after.
When I was waitlisted back in Jan., I called Admissions Office, but they told me that the waitlist was not finalized till May and gave me those odds. I remember they might have said the same was true last year, so after VIC, but I could be wrong.
Good luck to you.
top third here.
much luck to everyone!

Thanks infinite! All the best to you too, and to the rest of us waiting!
Middle third here also, OOS. I'm assuming there are still an instate and out of state waitlist? Infinite and others, when you heard that they dug into the middle third was that in state or out of state? Good luck all!
Middle third of WL as well.... ugh.
joining the middle third party!!!!! woohoo!!!!
congrats to the top-third luckies 🙂
let's not throw in our UVM towels just yet....it's still early in the game!

not officially an epidemiologist but i did get an MPH...
i would say that SDN is a self-selected population of people who would be somewhat more likely to be in the top/middle versus bottom - a little bit of a bias is my guess...
(excitedly) top third here...

middle
I think the amount of people in top, middle, and bottom thirds should be the same right, because they divided the wait listed pool into three equal thirds. I would think there are 30-50 people per group.
no news... maybe still early?
top third
from 2006 postings, there appeared to be a bit of a lag between awareness of waitlist status (top/middle/bottom third) and acceptances...that's how it seemed to me.
by the way, does anyone else's parents have SDN as a bookmark? my mom is checking this site like a crazy woman - she is just beginning to know how we all feel at this point.
hi mom.

hi mom.
Ok, so I had like an hour of waiting for my secondary antibodies to bind to my primary antibodies, and I decided to do a little UVMWL Research. I couldn't find much about last year's WL, but here is some misc info from 2 years ago:
- The first person to declare (s)he got accepted off the WL did so on June 22nd.(Ref: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=188673&page=6 post #269)
- Someone made it from the WL at another school on June 24th. (Ref: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=188673&page=6 post #282)
- The second person got an acceptance phone call on June 27th. (Ref: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=188673&page=6 post #297)
- Third acceptance phone call, June 29th. (Ref: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=188673&page=7 post #310)
- Someone gets accepted to her/his top choice for med school (not UVM) on July 28th. (Ref: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=188673&page=7 post #348)
- SUNY Downstate accepted someone on August 3rd (Ref: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=188673&page=8 post #353) That person had been initially accepted to UVM off the waitlist, which meant that at least one person got accepted to UVM after August 3rd.
- The thread died out after August 9th, leaving some people on the top third reapplying to UVM for the 2006-entering class.
Conclusion: There is still much hope for all of us

I'm suspicious at the lack of people in the lower third of the waitlist...
Maybe it doesn't exist?
Maybe it doesn't exist?
Funny, I was just thinking about the same thing!
But maybe people in the third tier would tend to be less motivated in comparison with other applicants, and thus unlikely to be on SDN? Or maybe they would feel hopeless and decide to renounce the whole idea of getting into UVM this year?
Only speculations...

😳 i don't want to check my status page again, i doubt it was a mistake but last time i checked, i was most definitely a lower third.
Teee, I'm so sorry! I really didn't mean to hurt your feelings in anyway! It was just surprising not to see anyone subscribe into the third tier, but now that you have, we've got that concern cleared out 🙂
Don't lose hope!!! The fact that we're all on the waitlist means that we are all desired candidates, and it's only a matter of how many spots are available! We will make it and we will become excellent doctors, and the motivation and perseverence that we both acquire and exhibit throughout this painful process will prove useful one day, in an OR or a Pedi Room!
Here is for much Glück to you

no offense taken Lant. You guys deserve to be in UVermont more than I do anyway. but if there was ever any doubt that there is a lower third, i'm living proof 😉 Good luck to you too and everyone else on the top and middle third, i don't mind being in the lower third if it means you guys get off the list. okay, back to brooding...
Another here on the lower third. I'm already set on somewhere else so I'm not concerned about it. Do you think they check where you are already accepted and decide if you are someone that would actually go there? I'm OOS and got into my state school so I'm wondering if they wrote me off partly because of that.

for all you lower third people...my brother got accepted into UVM the day before class started and he was in the bottom third. so there's still a chance for you all. don't give up hope!

ntvu, which year was that?
ntvu, which year was that?
the year before the VIC began I believe..i think 5 years ago?
Thanks ntvu.
I called the admissions office today. They were very helpful and didn't mind spending quite some time answering my questions. They said there hasn't been much movement on the WL, and that it's not something to worry about, because it's still very early. They said it's not uncommon to send acceptance noticies up to the first day of classes (August 6th this year), but that it changes from year to year. Oh, and the notifications will be sent via email or through the online application center.
Maybe we should take turns in calling, you guys?
So far:
- 8 higher tier
- 8 middle tier
- 2 lower tier

Another Lower Thirder here, as of a week ago ... but I was ashamed to speak up at first 😳 , but thankfully someone else had some SDN cojones and admitted it before I did. 👍
This is what I would call positive binding cooperativity.
Once the first Third Tier person comes up, it becomes easier for the others to come out of the closet of shame. hahaha 😛
Thus, to recap our current UVM WL stats:
8 High
8 Middle
3 Low
