It doesn't seem like they did. It was the office that told me they were meeting, but if nobody's received any e-mails, then your hearts can drop out of your throats now 😛
After the initial email saying that you're in the pool, you will only get notified again by mail if they decide to accept you. Otherwise, there probably will be no news until April. This was what it sounded like in the email that I got on Monday (I interviewed on the 18th of Nov). Hope that helps a bit.... 🙂

Also it seemed from prior posts that the application status page informs you that they are sending something in the mail to you, rather than the usual "Your application is complete." statement. Creatine, can you confirm?

I just had my interview today (12/10). Pat Fero said that the last ADCOM meeeting of the year is tonite! Good luck to everyone!

Yes, that is correct. My application status page says: "Action was taken on your application 11/12/2004. You should receive a letter from our office by 11/19/2004."

<EDIT> Uh, totally wrong school/thread, oops.

Is it true that UW wont take you seriously if you don't score 27 or better on the MCAT? I know there's a screening process, but there are alot of people that got the interview anyway even under 27. It seems like a waste of money and time to come to seattle if they're not gonna take it seriously.

Unfortunately for some, I as well heard that they wont take anyone seriously under a 27. I think they just have too many more-qualified applicants to choose from.

I wish they can be more realistic and honest with their admission process, then it'll save alot of people a lot money 🙁

It's true that people under 27 automatically reviewed by Dean Samson. Still, the fact that these folks are reviewed and then granted an interview says that the dean took the application seriously enough to grant an interview, meaning you have a shot. Remember... the national MCAT mean is a 25. Sometimes it's easy to forget that after reading these boards and thinking "wow... my 30 is so low." It's not.

So, has anyone heard anything yet today or lately? The last ADCOM meeting was last friday (12/10). Supposedly, we should have heard something this morning.

Me neither. Not sure what's going on. More waiting . . . 🙄

Well, just got an email stating my "competitive pool" status. Let the waiting begin.

ditto . . .I'm done. No more. After this, I"m not gonna try anymore. Time to move on.

Sorry to hear that you are on that godforsaken list again. I was really rooting for an outright acceptance for you this year.

Best of luck to you all. Try to have a relaxing holiday!
Laurie

Anyone get an outright acceptance or an outright rejection after the last ADCOM meeting on the 10th?

Also, does anyone have any accurate information on the number of people who actually do get outright acceptances and not put in the competitive pool? Everyone always says "very, very few.." but anyone have some actual numbers?

How many people do you think have acceptances up to this point if you had to guess?

This is definitely my #1 choice. I have been complete at UW for months now but have heard nothing. I did take the August MCAT though so I guess that could have something to do with it. Does anyone know if they are still granting interviews? Any advice please!

Brookester:
I also took the August MCAT and just had my interview last week. I know that they still have alot of interviews to schedule since they are only booked to January right now, so dont worry. Also, if by chance you dont meet the guidelines for an auto-interview (3.5 GPA/27MCAT), then the application must pass through a screening by a couple of ADCOM members before an interview can be offered, thus may take longer to receive an invitation. Hope that helps.

You are totally fine. They don't even schedule some WWAMI applicants until March.

I was completely shocked when I opened up my mailbox today (Tuesday) and found an acceptance from UW. After only a month of being on the competitive list, it was the last thing I expected to have happen. The competitive list still confuses me, but I guess they do really take people off of it before March. It was dated December 13, so they must have decided on it on the ADCOM meeting on Friday the 10th.

Congrats Luettggl! Did your status page change? Seems to me people accepted after the first adcom meeting said their status page changed to "a decision has been made" or something like that.

Hey all

I am currently applying to UDUBB and had my interview on October 15th. I am trying to view my status but I cant' gain access? What is the personal identification number? I tried my AMCAS ID# and social security number but they both did not work.

Thanks

Your personal identification number is the first two letters of your last name followed by the last 7 digits of your social security number.

Thanks labrador, my status page says something like "Action was taken on your application on 12/10. You should receive something by 12/17"

Thanks for your help Creatine. Well, now that I got that figured out, how do you go about getting it to say "action taken on ...."?

Send homemade brownies to the admissions office?

But seriously, if I knew I'd have a great business on my hands!

Who has interviewd at UW in October or November and have heard nothing back in any way, shape, or form. I interviewed in late November and still, nothing. I was under the impression we were going to be given a response after the first meeting following the interview. This hasn't happened. Is the ADCOM just backed up or there something larger happening?

I heard a rumor that one of the schedulers/secretaries has quit and thus the admissions office is far behind schedule in scheduling interviews, sending out announcements, etc. Just FYI.

Anybody have any news on upcoming ADCOM meeting dates?

apparently they had an ADCOM meeting last friday. anyone hear anything? acceptances? competitive pool?

I've got my WWAMI interview on February 2nd. Can't wait for some lower-48 SUN!

I'm waiting on a decision after a December interview.
looking forward to the competitive pool...

I'm still around occasionally. I only applied to 2 schools because of family/geographical requirements for next year and just got rejected from OHSU (pre-interview--I must really suck!), so I'm trying to hold on to a bit of hope for UW--been on hold since November and am feeling resigned to a long wait and quite possibly applying again next year. But I'm working hard to keep spirits up....
🙂 😀 :luck:
....See?

Yes...Interviewed in November and have been tossed into a pool of fierce competition. Must not let pysche crumble. Began brainstorming new and improved personal statement topics for next year.

Anyone have a clear idea of the difference between the ranked and unranked list?

Are you guys from one of the non-Washington WWAMI states?

Here's how i understand it: (for WA residents -- i don't know how the wami state lists work)

The ranked and unranked alternate list are made after the incoming class has been completely filled.

If you are on the ranked list (maybe 25 people??) you will almost certainly be accepted, once other people start to decline their acceptances. These people are accepted in the order of their rank, but for quite a few years they've all gotten in eventually (the way it was explained to me by an admissions official: "if you are selected as a ranked alternate go ahead and call your grandma, because you're going to get in")

After that, anybody who declines their acceptance is replaced by someone from the unranked list. I believe these people are chosen personally by Dr. Samson, and you should meet with him if you are put on this list.

Uw has a really high matriculation rate, so not too many people usually get in off the unraked list. This probably varies a fair amount year to year..

But before any of this, usually comes the long, fun wait in the competitive pool.

Anyone fortunate enough to see the "Action has been taken on your application..." statement on their status page after last nights ADCOM meeting?

Nothing...can one expect to see a change in one's status page this early after a meeting?

I was interviewed on Monday and received the "competitive" e-mail this morning, but my status page still says "Your application is complete." So I guess my point is that don't trust the status page...?
