Well, the committee meets today. That doesn't mean that you'll get an answer today.

do you know how far on the waitlist are you? if not, i recommend you should ask Megan.....

if top 10, ur chances look favorable. otherwise, it depends on the trade season in april-july.

As of now i do not know my rank in the waitlist, i think there are more than 50 people on it though.
i was told that they will let me know in May if iam in the top 10.
i am gonna be praying and parying .. i really love VCOM, and think thats the best place for me,
thanks for ur support :)

I was just looking over the residency matches. Understanding the quality of residency matches is something that has always eluded me because I and most people have no significant exposure to this. It would certainly help, though, in comparing prospective schools. Does anyone know how these matches compare to any other school's? Are there any resources out there for this? I can look at the list and assume that an emergency medicine residency at Johns Hopkins is a high quality match, but really I'm just basing that on a name and have no real knowledge of its actual quality. Word.

Hey Guys!

I just want to introduce myself, I am a junior and I absolutely love VCOM. I have been to two of their open houses and fall in love with the place more each time. I am currently taking the MCAT May 28th and am taking a prep class but still feeling nervous about it (which can be expected). Any advice on relaxing during the application process?

Thanks guys!

Relaxing during this whole process is very difficult. I just wanted to say hi and I wish you luck. Dont give up. Keep your eyes on the prize!!:luck::xf:

Oh and welcome to SDN!!

I feel like I am the only one here. Anybody from the waitlist, anything going on?

Thanks for the advice!! Also I was wondering if anyone went through the military to pay for their education. And if so, what branch did they choose and why... Sorry for the interrogation I am just looking into all of the possibilities for paying for school.

Thanks again!!
SAM

Apply Early!

No, seriously.

Apply as early as humanly possible, and then you can sit back and wait for secondaries. Do those ASAP...then wait for interviews.

That's what I did, and I got in a bunch of places in Sep/Oct, pulled my other apps and have been chilling for months.

Haha! Thanks guys. The application open the first week of May but I am doing research over the summer and I get 6 credits for those. Is it worth waiting to apply and factoring those into my GPA? Right now my in major GPA: 3.26 (it's going up after this semester to like a 3.34- I changed my major three times) and my science GPA: 3.31 (again going up after this semester to a 3.34)

Any suggestions?

I would still apply as EARLY as possible. Have your personal statement ready to go, and try and submit your aacomas in May. I submitted mine last year on 7/11 and I thought that it was early but the reality was that after I submitted it took aacaomas 6 weeks to "verify" my application and the schools didn't get it until 8/27.

You can also get the secondary application questions early by looking at schools specific websites or by searching on these forums. It's a great idea to start working on those as soon as you submit your aacomas application because then as soon as you get the invitation from a school to complete a secondary then you are already ready to send them one. It definitely pays off to stay on top of things early.

Yeah I've accepted to PCOM, but I'm going to hold out for VCOM for a little while.

Congrats that's really great. Also like you said its really worth waiting for VCOM and see, because it really is a great place. :)

Hello! I have an interview this Monday. Unfortunately, I know it is for a waitlist position.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long the interview is and how many people are on the panel because the invitation e-mail was a little confusing.

It's not as daunting as it seems. I was a little concerned over it at first, but two of my interviews were very relaxed and low-stress. The third one turned up the heat a little bit, but his questions weren't anything unexpected. Just be ready to defend whatever shortcomings you may have.

Hope your interview went well.

Thats exactly what happend to me, the first two were very conversational and the third was a little more tough. VCOM is a beautiful campus and I really liked their anatomy lab.

Have any of you current students participated in the medical mission trips to Central America? If so, what were they like? Also, about how much do the trips cost?

holy moly - 60!! i just interviewed tuesday and was told that they have used the waitlist "extensively" in the past. I wonder how much movement there will be at this point though...

Wow 60 is quite a waitlist :(.....but they said the same thing when I was there that they have used it extensively in the past but I don't know exactly what that means....hopefully there is good news for all of us in the near future.

Yeah, I interviewed on Monday, the 27th. I just recieved a letter letting me know I was waitlisted. They let us know during the interview that we were interviewing for waitlist positions so I am not surprised. Does anyone know if they will let us know where we place?

If I remember correctly from my interview I think they e-mail people, but if you don't get an e-mail I'm sure you can call and they can tell you where you are on the waitlist. I thought they mentioned something about only e-mailing a certain percent, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure when they will have the rankings, but I would think by the end of the week maybe.

Good luck!

any movement on the waitlist.. has anyone called vcom lately ??
thanks much :)

Hi all,
So I talked to Bea last week and she told me about a guaranteed spot for 2014 :)...However I wanted to see how that works. Do we need to re-apply or do any paper work? Is it the entire waitlist that gets shifted over to next year? since I'm not in top 10. Can someone PLEASE let me know...

Hey Kids,

I received the same letter and immediately called up (didn't catch anyone in the office) and then responded to the e-mail with a bunch of questions. Melissa's response was this:

"You will not need to resubmit an application. Rather, once the Class of 2013 matriculates, if you are not already sitting in Classroom I we will send you an official offer of admission letter for the Class of 2014 – it's that easy!"

So looks good. Can't wait...so stoked! :D
