Hey guys, is the 200 word limit for VCU's handwritten essay a strict cutoff? I just finished a draft and it came in at 242 words. Is this kosher or should I pare it down? Thanks!

You could try calling and asking. But I made sure mine was < 200 words just in case they are strict with the limit.

Mine was 240 words. I wouldn't sweat it. Nobody has the time to count the exact length, in words, of thousands of handwritten essays.

Just make it a page or less.

It's probably not a big deal but I would also say that it is in your best interest to follow directions.

Another question: did you guys sign your actual statements? I signed a coversheet stating the essay was enclosed, but that's about it. All I've got on the essay page itself is my name, AMCAS ID and date. Sorry for being anal retentive, but I don't wanna take any chances 😀
