i am flailing a bit trying to decide what to write about or what other essay to recycle. my amcas is more or less autobiographical and covers why i want to be a doctor, although not in great detail.

anyone have any thoughts? i think i could have figured this out a month ago before i decided to add extra schools to my amcas at the 11th hour, but now i am churning out the secondaries so quickly that my brain is fried.

First of all - I don't think the essay is optional (you are talking about the handwritten one, right?). I wrote about cooking.

You could write about something really random. I wrote about carebears (although there was a point... I related them to the moral lessons I try to teach my students). But then again, I haven't been invited for an interview at VCU, so I don't know which types of essays work and which don't 🙂 You could do a search of old threads. I know there were tons of threads about the VCU essay topic back in august or september...

I am out of state, and I received a secondary from VCU with ~ 3.4 gpa and 31 MCAT. I have a friend with similar stats who has an interview there. I guess they didn't think highly of my essay 😕
