I have been trying to do a passage and get more than 3/8 right, but for some reason, I dose off half way through the passage, what should i do to actually do good in this dreaded section?

if you can't stay awake, you will tank this section. You will not do well enough to get into medical school. If that isn't enough to help you stay awake, not sure what is.

Verbal requires paying attention and understanding the passage. That's all, but you need to practice it a lot even though it sounds easy.

You sound just like me. My first VR timed practice test I scored a 4!!! Wow, uh, oh, wait, a 4 sucks. I found it tough to concentrate intensely for an hour. My score range is now 9-12 consistently. How did I do it? Practice. Practice. Practice. I invested money and time. Bought EK 101 VR, all AAMC FL, and had Kaplan's VR guide. Now, with 28 tests to work with, I could rotate through them. I took a timed test at least 5 times a week and tracked my progress on excel. I started scoring in the 6-8 range, then a few 10, 11 and then had a negative trend until about 40 tests. Then, my trend started to go up, and up. I have done 72 timed VR tests and my reading speed has tripled. I finish early and am relaxed during the VR section.

When the gurus on this site say that practice is key... they aren't joking, and it doesn't come free (but it does turn into habit and is fun to track your progress).

Good luck, there's still time! Start today

Congratulations, that's quite an improvement.

very inspiring.. I got a 4 in my diagnostic too!! I found trouble concentrating in difficult topics like philosophy and politics... did you only use EK, kaplan, and aamc tests to practice for verbal.. or did you use others too?

also, any techniques you used to keep focus throughout the whole section... besides practice?

What do you guys think of Kaplan's online verbal tests? I just did one and I did so bad..Are they going to be that hard on the real MCAT?

Most of my practice tests are on paper. I've been scoring consistent with the paper tests then suddenly went down on the comp test. However, I don't really have as many computer-based practice tests, no money left to buy them. Wat do I do?

hey DrDave, you said you "rotated" through the "same" materials? Did I get this right? I'm sure to believe that if you work on the same materials over time, you'll start to improve on your scores. can you show me how you rotated the materials or how you set up your general schedule?

appreciate the help
