Virginia Commonwealth University Interview Question?

Hi all...I got this email from VCU today and it said that they wanna interview me, but not until the next 6-8weeks or something. Anybody else get this email? What does it mean, in terms of your chances?

Yeah, I got the same email back in late November, then an email in December inviting me for an interview. (I went in Jan.) I'm not really sure about others' experiences, but it seems like they'll interview you, but just haven't gotten around to scheduling it yet. One committee member reads your app and essay, etc. and decides whether or not to grant an interview, so maybe that just happened and now they have to figure out when...

Good luck! The school rocks and the people are very cool. I'm still waiting to hear from them.

Thanks for the input Panda01.....Well, the email says in the next 6-8weeks they'll get back to me about scheduling an interview. But that seems really really late.

i can confirm that it is a single person that reviews your file and decides whether to offer you an interview or not. the dean goes over this in the morning sesssion, and my interviewer verified it. my interviewer spent part of the hour asking me questions that my blind reviewer had about my file.

and i agree with panda...the school is great (and i am waiting to here back as well)

Hey altaskier,

I got that message in mid-January (about Jan. 16th?) and am still waiting for them to give me the interview date. But I hear that everyone who gets this message will still be interviewed, so no worries! I hope that I'm scheduled at least for March, but the fact that I have one makes me jump for joy. Everyone seems to really like this school and the students are supposedly quite happy. Who knows - maybe we'll be interviewing together!

Hey ssd...you said your interviewer asked you questions that your blind reviewer had. Who is the blind reviewer? Is that the person who looked at your file and decided if you should get an interview or not?

i got the same message long time ago. i didnt wait 6-8 weeks for them to get back to me. i called them and they gave me an interview date right on the phone. so i suggest you call them, tell them how bad u want to go there and get urself a date to see virginia.

you are correct. the reviewer recommends you for the interview and helps present you (along with the interviewer, of course) to the committee at your final review.
