my first time making a post! I haven't seen this comparison between these schools and would love any input!
Virgina Tech
+ research imbedded into the program
+ True P/F preclinical, NMBE style exams, no internal ranking or AOA, less competitiveness
+/- : small (~50) class size, which is great for forming connections, but it would an adjustment for me as I come from a larger city
- relatively new school, so I'm scared how residency programs will see it
- thinking of going gas or ENT, which the school does not have home program for
- OOS, more expensive tuition (~ $60k w/ $5000 scholarship)
UAB Birmingham:
+ though not imbedded in the program, there is still lots of available research I can get involved in
+ OOS but cheaper for me to go to ( ~$60k w/ $30,000 scholarship)
+ higher school rank?
+/ - looking at match list, a lot of people stay at UAB, which is reassuring, but I also would like to move out from Alabama and go Northeast maybe
