NCSU medicine emphasis rotating check in-- has anyone heard from them? Is it inappropriate to reach out to ask if they will be inviting applicants to interview and if so, what the expected time frame is?
I have not heard either.

The VIRMP listing for this one states "Invitations will be sent to selected applicants following application review"

Has anyone heard back from Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency, Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, or Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists North Scottsdale regarding their small animal rotating internship programs?
I just got an interview invite email from Wheat Ridge last night

Someone in my class has talked to them about the med focused rotating - but they had done an externship there and apparently that’s who’s they’re talking to rn. Unsure if this is helpful to you but

Did they get a formal interview invitation or did they just talk to them about it while they were there on externship?

I saw that someone's classmate on a reddit thread interviewed with Wheat Ridge yesterday. I haven't heard anything myself

since everyone is asking, did anyone else apply for UF Rotating Emphasis on ECC? I know they aren’t doing interviews but wanna chat with another applicant 🙂

Been lurking awhile but posting for the first time. Good luck everyone this cycle 🙂

For those interested in Med Onc residency, who all have you heard from / have you not heard from?
I have heard from Davis, UTK, UGA, TAMU, and CSU. Have not heard from UF or Ohio State

Hello all! Wondering if anyone has heard from any of these places - VCA Alameda East, Thrive North Scottsdale, Purdue, or Tufts?

Also wanted to see if anyone knows anything about Angell, I am hearing from a few clinicians it is not a good environment but then another said it was.

Additionally, I wanted to revisit a topic that was briefly discussed a few posts before this - if I DO NOT hear from a program that does interviews for invited applicants, should I expect that that is a no? Or should I still rank the program? One of these is one I externed at for four weeks, and I have talked with the intern director and overall believe that our interactions have been great and very positive, and got great feedback from the doctors I worked with, so I was wondering if they might not feel the need to interview me?

Finally, if I do not match anywhere, are all programs able to see my application packet if I decided to scramble? And can I go for any program, and not just the ones I applied for?

Thanks all for any input/advice/info, first time applying for SA rotating!
I got an interview invitation from vca alameda

anyone have any insight of what style questions they ask during small animal rotating interviews? I have my interview at UW Madison next week!

What's the latest that we can hear from programs? From stalking previous cycle threads, it seems to be pretty damn late/close to the ranking deadline. I should probably stop hyperfixating but it's hard when I'm seeing other receive emails/calls from programs I also have applied to and I've yet to hear anything from those programs.

For my IM residency folk, I heard from TAMU, Auburn, and Minnesota yesterday/today.

For this, I've heard of some programs still interviewing into the week ranks are due, so I know it is hard to not be anxious, but there is hope yet.

Most places will ask general interview questions such as "what attracts you to our program?", tell us about yourself and your goals, strengths/weaknesses, etc. Mostly, they want to get to know you. Some places do ask case-based questions, but I personally did not encounter this as much. I would be prepared to potentially discuss a difficult case and a conflict with a colleague or client and how you helped to resolve that situation as well.

Hey all.... Has anyone heard from NCSU, CSU, TAMU, Ohio or UC Davis for ECC residency?
I so far have heard from UF, Cornell, Auburn, Angell, Tufts, Illinois, Washington, UGA.

Ive heard from CSU and UC Davis (did not apply to the others you listed), interviewed for Davis last week and interviewing with CSU this week!
I've heard from those places as well as UF, Cornell, Angell, Penn, AMC, Red Bank, VSH, and Dove Lewis (who filled positions internally and did not offer external interviews).

Small animal rotating people. I heard from BluePeal NYC (had to turn the interview down due to licencing issues) and UF ECC focus. Will keep everyone posted if any others reach out 🤞🏻

I would tread cautiously if a program will not provide intern contacts...
Would you mind sharing your thoughts on this comment? There are a couple of academic SA rotating internships that don't provide contracts, but quite a few of them do. You seem to have a strong opinion, so I would love to hear your thoughts if you're willing to share them

An internship should be willing to provide current intern contacts when asked. Current interns will tell you how it is without the fluff and smoke/mirrors. They will tell you if it sucks, if it's great, if they're miserable, etc. Refusing to provide current intern contacts implies that they don't want their interns leveling with applicants about the program.

Doesn't mean the program automatically provides them, but they should give you a few names (at least) when asked. You usually have to actually ask for the contacts in my experience

Oh yes fair enough. I actually misread the original message. I thought everyone was talking about providing contRacts rather than contacts. I can definitely see the red flags with not providing contacts of the current interns. Clearly I need to focus a little bit more on my reading comprehension

DoveLewis filled spots internally?

To be fair I did the opposite and read you saying ‘contracts’ as contacts lol

For SA rotating applicants, has anyone heard from Wisconsin, Illinois, Wheat Ridge, or Red Bank about scheduling interviews?
Red bank I think asked to have applicants schedule interviews at least the in person ones! I interviewed 2 ish weeks ago

I have gotten a q&A invite from Tufts a few days ago for Thursday night this week. Unsure if it was for everyone or not!

If anyone is a small animal rotating intern or recently completed a rotating at any of the following hospitals, I'd love to hear more about your experience. I'm trying to get as many perspectives as possible.

University of Illinois
University of Minnesota
The Ohio State University
Michigan State University
Red Bank Veterinary Hospital
Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital
I did a 4th year rotation at Red Bank and the interns seem genuinely like they are enjoying their internship and learning a lot. They look busy and seem challenged appropriately. Long hours, lots of cases, the general private practice internship bit but without the intern suffering from staff/culture. Seems healthy learning environment. Lots of didactic activities for interns/residents. No one is alone on ER as intern usually. Everyone seems willing to help/teach. Hospital is huge and very fancy/nice.

Thank you and the other fellow applicant who responded! It is possible that it's out of the window of them reaching out, which is ok. My application is definitely not a traditional one, but I am happy to at least talk to the places that I have secured interviews with. I am also, just in case, applying to ECC internships. Looking forward to becoming colleagues! GOOD LUCK in the Match!

Did any one hear from Tufts, UGA, LSU, Auburn radiology residency programs? And WCVM Imaging Internship? Please confirm.

SA rotating internship applicant here - definitely in the overthinking stage of the match at this point so just need a sounding board.

I got an email from one of the programs I interviewed with indicating that they plan to rank me favorably. What is the best way to respond? Just a vague thank you & I appreciate the consideration?

Also, I have heard from all but one of my programs. This final program states on VIRMP that they interview all applicants. I did extern there in April 2025, so it is possible that they have decided they do not need to interview me as they already have gotten to know me a little. I think I am just stressing slightly given that other programs I externed with still wanted to do a brief interview/at the least catch up. Thoughts?

Once again, rank them how you want them. Don’t overthink it or play into the mind games.

There’s no harm in ranking a place that doesn’t rank you back. And you don’t know if no contact is because they aren’t interested in you or they are so interested they didn’t want to waste their time. So rank them how you like them and let the system do its thing.

The match algorithm essentially goes down YOUR list trying to make matches. The institution’s list is the secondary consideration. So even if that place ranks you as 1 or 2, the system will still try to match you to places you have ranked higher first. If none of the other places you have ranked higher are a match, then you’ll end up at that place. You could put them high on your list because you feel like you have good chances there, but then you might be missing out on a place you liked better/wanted more. Plus you have no way to confirm whether they are telling the truth or just trying to get people to rank them higher to ensure they match with someone and don’t have to scramble. You’ll never know if they were telling the truth or lying since rank lists are confidential.

In my opinion, if the program that is saying they are going to rank you favorably, and you are highly interested in the program, I would thank them and indicate that you intend to do the same. But if this is not a program at the top of your list, I would simply thank them for considering you as an applicant. I wouldn't over think this. I did an out-elective week at a hospital I applied to back in October 2025, and I was still invited to interview. However it was not a real interview, it was us just chatting. So honestly, if you externed there in 2025 and they already know you well, they probably are not interviewing to save everyone time. I would reach out if you have any further questions about the program tho!
