Hey everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm looking for some help classifying one of my "experiences." I worked for a small privately-owned pet store and I can't figure out if I should put it under employment or animal experiences. We sold high-quality food, treats, toys, grooming supplies, etc and there were always animals in the store. I e-mailed the VMCAS people and they just said that if it is related to animals than it is animal experience, but I guess I'm just a little hesitant.

Thanks!

Animal experience. You basically put it into the higher category possible going down the pecking order.

Veterinary => Animal => Work => Volunteer

Work trumps volunteer? Really? I thought that it would "prove" more if you aren't getting paid for your awesomeness. (You're just being awesome because you want to be awesome, not because there's monetary compensation for it.)

Yah but you'd be a fool to turn down payment for a job you're already doing.

work also means someone decided that your time and energy were worth exchanging something of value for beyond good fuzzy feelings + work generally indicates you don't have quite as much flexability as volunteering

agreed - and I was recommended in a file review to get more paid experience if possile.

but back to OP - I would put it under animal experience, as well

Thanks! 😀

All these instructions and exceptions in the application are making me nervous :/
