During my senior year in high school, I did over 700 hours of volunteering in a University Hospital. I did things there that no other hospital will let me do (was in a special program).

Will that count for my med school apps? Do I really need more clinical experience?

Yes, you do. Adcoms expect all your experiences listed to have occurred after high school. This could make an excellent part of your personal statement, though.

You might also make mention of it in the same space as your more recent clinical experience. I agree that you need something during the college years to show that you continued to test medicine as a career. As time passes, folks tend to have more mature perspectives to gain from experiences with sick people.
