Has anybody ever done this? Is there a significant monetary advantage? What about going and picking the vehicle up at the factory? Thanks.

None recently, but a colleague of mine bought two on return to the states. They were waiting for him at the port. He ordered them when he was rerturning from an OCONUS assignment (not in Europe). At the time it was a savings.

But a Volvo? Why?

There are different ways to do it. They have a program for in the US, but you can also get it while overseas.

I think the biggest savings when getting it overseas is saving on the destination fee on top of a savings on the overall costs. Most people I know, when stationed overseas, or deployed or on a det, get a BMW through their program.

There's lots of programs out there--BMW, Volvo, Ford, Saab, etc for when you're overseas.

Please correct me anyone, if I'm wrong. I'm speaking off the cuff!
