I remember reading a post and ppl were saying that VSP sucks. The doctor I work for only takes VSP. DO you think VSP have change since the post back in '01. My doctor told me that VSP is THE BEST vision plan.

It is probably the best VISION plan, but it still sucks. (That just shows you how bad other vision plans are.)

It still pays less than what the vast majority of medical plans pay for comparable services.

The main plus of VSP is that it DOES bring patients into your office, so you can bill their medical insurance for any pathology found. (fundus photos, visual fields etc. etc. ) That's where the money is made with VSP.

The main problem is that they don't pay you enough for the exam to pay for your staff while the patient is there, much less leave enough left to pay you. When may dad had it, they sent us a list of what to tell your patient so they would "up-sell" to more coating, thinner lenses, second pairs, add contacts... All things your patient does not really need. But the thing is that you have to do that in order to make any money off them!
