Sorry, no overlap. You get information about withdrawls!? :O any insider scoop for MCG as far as withdrawls/movement?
Any Stanford? Thanks so much! 🙂Not yet.
When I see something, I'll post.Any Stanford? Thanks so much! 🙂
There's been a lot about poaching. Let me see if I've got it straight... So, generally speaking, most of what's happening right NOW, in the first round of WL movement, is poaching other programs' acceptees, and THEN, next round, it's everyone else?

Hi @gyngyn - thank you so much for looking into those for us. I have a bit of a different question - how representative is what you see on SDN (members posting WL acceptances) compared to what you see on your lists? I'm curious as to what your biggest and smallest movers would look like for the last few days compared to the threads. I wouldn't ask you to dig, but have you ever noticed a correlation?
What about UA Tucson? It's been along day. It was either Einstein or Emory. I'll confirm and get back to you tomorrow.
The first round of withdrawals reduces an excess of acceptances. At some schools, the number dips below the class size and waitlist movement begins. When the most desirable waitlist candidate is holding an acceptance at a school from which they can routinely be poached, poaching will happen. The poached school then may drop to a point at which the number needed to fill is reached and they, in turn begin the process of stealing from schools that are good poaching grounds for them. There's been a lot about poaching. I've seen withdrawals, no WL movement. What about UA Tucson?
So no general trend with the timing...?The first round of withdrawals reduces an excess of acceptances. At some schools, the number dips below the class size and waitlist movement begins. The only thing you can rely on is that traffic day is the beginning of WL movement (where it is going to occur). So no general trend with the timing...?
The correlation is quite close.Hi @gyngyn - thank you so much for looking into those for us. i appreciate you doing thisI'll report on everything tomorrow. I don't recall anything on Tulane today.
thank you 😀I'll report on everything tomorrow. I don't recall anything on Tulane today.
+1. No matter how much you read online, the back end of this process does remain somewhat of a mystery, so it's great to hear your insight.thank you 😀

I also appreciate you taking the time to look up this information for everyone.
I was just curious if you could estimate what percentage of each class are made up of "poached" candidates. Is it a significant proportion (50%+) or generally very few (<5%) or somewhere in between? I imagine it varies widely from year to year and school to school but was just wondering what this number could be. Thanks!
Is a school less likely to accept a WL candidate who has zero acceptances elsewhere? My other acceptances are at DO schools, so my MD waitlisted school won't see that.
Why is everyone so obsessed with this "poaching" concept? 😵

Word. No matter how many dominos have to fall before you get called, at the end of the day the same number of spaces are opening up.Why is everyone so obsessed with this "poaching" concept? 😵

give us some slack, we're all grasping at straws here.
I get it. I guess for me it is what it is and I don't care about how it works, I'll just sit here and wait for the call.give us some slack, we're all grasping at straws here.
Starting this May, I beleive that DO schools will find out who is accepted where, and people holding multiple accepts have to drop all but one.
Just like AMCAS...imagine that!

@Goro is at a DO school and they don't even communicate with each other!
The correlation is quite close.

This is incredibly generous of you, many thanks! If you get a moment to look, any movement at Pitt?
Yesteday's WL list movement (that I could see) was at Rush, Rochester, GT, NY Med, UC Berkeley and a bunch at Hofstra. I don't know why I thought I saw Einstein/Emory (the workings of a muddled mind, sorry).
There were were several withdrawals from Pit but about as many stayed (of the ones I could see). This is incredibly generous of you, many thanks! If you get a moment to look, any movement at Pitt?

We can see when AMCAS indicates that an acceptance has been offered. At this point in the cycle that is very likely to be a waitlist offer.@gyngyn Thanks for doing this!
Just to clarify, when you see WL movement on a particular day, does it mean the people you saw were taken off the waitlist the day before you saw it?
Quite a few withdrawals, but without knowing how many over acceptances they have, we just have to wait until we see waitlist movement to know that they were depleted.@gyngyn Do you know how much movement there was at RWJMS?
Seems a bit faster to me. That would be normal, though. The recent memory of a near-miss (over-acceptance) makes schools more cautious in a subsequent year.@gyngyn I have a more general question. Crawling through last year's thread it sounded like movement was atypically slow. Does this year feel more similar to last year or other prior years in terms of early movement?
Later today I'll post anything I see.@gyngyn do you know anything about the FL schools WL movement? Or is there no significant overlap with your school? Trying to figure out USF Morsani movement specifically.

Out of curiosity, does the AMCAS report update daily or throughout the day?
