Any news anyone? Any new info or has anyone heard lately?

This is literally a repeat of my earlier responses: when I called in on Friday, I was told that my file's still with the committee (since JANUARY!!!) and I should hear something by the end of April or by May. May??? At least before this call, I thought I would know something about my status by the end of this month. So who knows? Maybe it will be pushed further out to June or July next time I make a call. :mad: :mad: :p

Sorry this is not much of a helpful response to all of you waiting.
 
no news here yet. interviewed 2/14.

i just got off the phone with the admissions office and they told me that my file is still w/the committe and that a decision should be made by the end of this week. i also asked him if it was true that a bunch of decisions were being sent out today as they had planned. he proceeded to say "well, we didn't get any decisions today, so no decisions are being sent out as planned." I guess this is good news for all of us still waiting for our statuses to change.

and the sad thing is, out of this large group on this thread, most of us are gonna be very disappointed. ah well

Are you sure about this? Do you think they have filled their class already?

I hope not, otherwise we are all waiting for a position on the waitlist or worse :( .

On the bright side, most of us probably have other acceptances as well... :clap:

oh, i didn't mean that. i just meant that ucla rejects/waitlists most of its interviewees

I interviewed first week of February and still haven't heard back yet. At this point, I just wish they'd send me anything so I could hear back. Okay, so long as it's an acceptance!!!
 
Hey, how come so many people are waiting for this end of april/beginnin of may business? how come i know of people accepted already? why would they tell all these people to wait until end of april, when acceptances go out at random times? do they send out a whole stock of acceptances all at once, end of april??
 
I called today (AGAIN...because I'm becoming psycho over this school), and monotone boy told me that class has NOT been filled yet. Acceptances will still be sent out throughout this month.

However I never know what to believe when I call UCLA. Nothing they have told me (as far as when I would hear) has been true so far.
 
man, have you guy noticed that there is an incredibly large group of people on sdn that are waiting on ucla? makes me nervous. they can't take all of us :) so a lot of us are gonna be getting small envelopes
 
Actually, from what I've heard both acceptances and rejections come in small envelopes. Still, your point is well taken, many of us will be dissapointed. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
 
Do you believe the words coming out of this monotoned guy? That "he" said the class hasn't been filled is not promising... :mad:

So rejection letters from UCLA has been sent post-interview? It was said earlier they are sending large batches end of april and early May, but they have been sending acceptances throughout. Then does that mean these large batches will be waitlist/rejection? Are we all waiting for that: waitlist/rejection?
 
As far as I know, no post-interview rejection letters have been mailed out yet.
Many of us here believe that the large batches will consist "mostly" of waitlists/rejections... UCLA's been steadily sending out acceptance letters since February, so I am sure a few lovely A-letters will be also included in these batches. One thing I noticed, those who need to worry are folks like me who've been waiting forever since the interview, :mad: ie. if you had a very late interview and get a decision letter at the end of this month, you will most likely be a lucky winner.

BTW, have any of you tried to check your status today?? I keep getting "The application is using arguments that are of the wrong type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one another" message. What the!!! Do you think, it means that the committee have temporarily deactivated my login in order to update my status FINALLY?

I keep getting that same message and it only makes me more frustrated. I don't know what to think. UCLA is THE school I want to go to and all of this madness is driving me crazy. I don't have any acceptances just one "hold for further consideration" from Davis. The other school out of the three I have interviewed at basically told me "no" at my interview. So, the way it looks, I'm not going anywhere. So, for those of you who have other acceptances and are just waiting to hear back from UCLA, be grateful and be happy. Nothing feels worse than to plan you life around being a doctor and to have every desire to do this so much that your heart hurts and it brings tears to your eyes when you think about the realization that this is what you were created to do, this is your purpose then, only to realize that it's not going to happen. I don't know how much longer I can take this waiting to find out if my future will be what I have been thinking it will be for the past 23 years.
 
akk... i feel for you, man. guess there is not much else you can do except wait. but if you don't get in this time, don't give up just yet. you just gotta try again.

UCLA is absolutely my #1 choice and this waiting is killing me! I have one waitlist and one post-interview rejection so far, and I'm starting to feel like I might not get in this year. This is my second time applying and I feel like I'm just wasting time at this point. I am so stressed out, I'm having trouble functioning at work, at home, etc. I hope that UCLA gives us some good news soon so this misery can end!
 
My status page is down too, so unless they are updating all of our statuses (highly doubtful) then the system is just down.
 
warning: this is merely a vent

The thing that especially annoys me is that I am an employee at UCLA med school; so all day I am at work, and the admissions office is literally DOWNSTAIRS. And I still feel helpless about this whole thing because it's not like I can go down there and tell them to hurry up. That would be funny though.

Anyway, I hope we all finally hear something soon.
 
didn't many of u guys say that 4/15 is some sort of a D-day and letters would be sent out?? did some of you get your letters?? anything?
 
Someone here called the office on 15th and was told that the committee were still behind so no letters went out on 15th. At this pt, it's hard to say when all of the final decisions will be mailed out for those of us interviewed a while back.
 
A few weeks ago they told me that they would have decisions made by 4/15. She made it sound like we'd definitely know by then. When I didn't hear anything, I called and they said that it would be the end of the month. Yesterday I called about my transcripts and, since I got a different person on the line, asked again. She said that it would be sometime early May. Ferchrissakes, I interviewed in January. I just called again about my transcripts, and someone kept picking up the phone (I could hearing breathing), and then pressing some button which resulted in the call being disconnected. This happened three times.

Vent, vent. :mad:
 
I called yesterday to check my status (I interviewed 2/27), and the woman who picked up said that I should be hearing within 2 weeks...I hadn't given her my name, so I suspect that hers was a generic response.

p.s.- my ucla status page has been up and running all week...not sure why others have not been able to access theirs.
 
UCLA is an awesome medical school and is one of the hardest to get into (or even to get an interview for this matter). I was in the same boat last year. I interviewed in December and was notified that I was on the wait list in early March. Unfortunately, I was left on the wait list when classes began. I ended up enrolling at a D.O. school. Besides that point, keep up the faith, there's always that chance that you will be accepted. Good luck everyone!!!

Just checked my status and it said the final decision letter got sent out today. I'm going to be a nervous wreck until it comes!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

same letter sent update - after so long - shocking and scary... (it might have come up already but..) is the class already full?(prior to this apparent wave)
do they mostly waitlist people - or will there be plenty of rejections as well
best of luck with them and their crappy process(not to mention slow...for a lot of us)
 
I don't want to scare you guys, and I'm also an MSTP applicant so things might be different. But, my status page said that a final decision had been made on 3/13 and I didn't get the letter until the first week of April. And it was postmarked the 28th or March or something like that, even though the letter itself was dated 3/15.

Good luck all and hopefully I'll see some of you there this fall.

Mine just changed too, agh!...hopefully our letters will not end up getting delayed like Rumit's. Good luck you guys, we'll see what happends next week. :)
 
My status HAS NOT changed!

A thought just occurred to me. Is a waitlist letter considered a "final decision letter"?

Strangely, I didn't even get an interview at Western College of Osteopathic Medicine!! Their average GPA is like a 3.2.

Thanks Mesentery. I guess the cards are still up in the air for all of us.

seems like every1 and their momma got a letter!! these can't all be acceptances can they??? dammit, we're all getting rejected.

ehhehee... okay okay, i'm just kiddin around. jeez, best of luck to everyone when you finally get the letter!

oh and caliboy, don't sweat it too much. no letter could very likely be better than a letter

My status has not changed yet so I'm eager to hear back from all of those who's status did change on 4/19 especially if it is a mix or solely acceptances or rejections. I'm sure everyone else in my boat like Caliboy will be happy to hear too. Thanks guys. Keep the faith!!

maybe they're just slow overall still... or i'm sure we can all do random speculation over the batch sent now and perhaps another later... so any people interview january or before and not have the 4/19 status change? (there's a poll started for the ucla status change as well if people wanna add or are curious)
 
My status page says that a final decision letter was sent on 4/19 too!!
 
If anyone happens to find out anything from the admissions office or the actual letter, please tell us what this batch is. I have heard they have not filled their class yet, so it's possible these are acceptances. I was told by the admissions guy a lot of decisions will be sent out around this time for applicants to decide before the May 15th deadline. From what this "implies," he might mean this batch includes acceptances. Let's hope so, because I'm in this batch. Hope anyone can share any info they have also about this batch.
 
Let's keep this alive til we know what the 4/19 batch is all about.
 
Good luck you guys! Just to let you know, ucla mail is really slow so you probably won't get any mail till Tuesday or Wednesday. When my final letter was sent I didn't get it for a week and I live in LA.
