Waitlist c/o 2024

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Oregon state sent an email this morning that said they were only pulling 3 people off the OOS wait list as of right now, but people who were in the top 25 previously are in the top 10 now. So if you were pulled off, congrats on being in the top 3!!! I also haven’t heard anything out of WSU. Crossing my fingers for everyone!

Congrats! I am also on this list but haven't gotten a call yet. If you don't mind me asking, did they tell you your ranking?
They did not say anything about ranking!

Has any OOS waitlisters for tOSU heard anything or got an email with their new spot number? I’m only hearing IS people getting updates, so I’m wondering if they haven’t started calling the OOS people yet.

Someone posted on the OSU c/o 2024 page they just got a call. They were OOS #1

Yes I got called off it this morning! They said they’d email me sometime this weekend

To anyone waitlisted at Penn, I contacted them to give up my seat today (and lost $500... lol). Stay hopeful!

Yeah, I'm in state for Utah and haven't heard anything from WSU yet. I know of one person not accepting their seat for the WIMU/WSU program, but I don't know about numbers for the WSU campus. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything, but I'm going to assume for now that I'm not the person they are calling off the waitlist this year sadly. But please let me know if you guys hear anything because I would assume we will all hear around the same time if we do hear anything.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of us!!

Do you happen to know if all WIMU applicants are considered in the same pool, or are they considered based on their respective state? I.e. if a Utah resident doesn’t accept, another Utah resident will be called to replace them, or someone else from the WIMU applicant pool will?

Current second year at WSU and student ambassador. They are all separate pools due to differences in residence stuff. My understanding are the Pools are In-state, Utah, Montana, Idaho and out of state. If a person is a Utah resident and declines the spot it will most likely be offered to another Utah resident unless that applicant pool has been depleted. Another thing to know is WSU doesn't rank the Waitlist, they review the waiting pool for each spot to round out the class. So, it might take a bit longer than other schools because its not simply working down a list.

Unfortunately (and fortunately) we had very few declines this year and have not made any offers from the waitlist for any of our pools. I do not anticipate that we will be going to the waitlist this year unless something drastic happens.

This is a quote from Stacy at Washington State in an email asking about hearing about waitlist offers. Sorry, everyone, wishing I had better news for all of us. I am an IS Washington applicant.

Anyone pulling from a waitlist so they can begin reapplying for next cycle?

I was informed that when you begin a new VMCAS application it resets any other applications still open

Really? I didn't know that. I though you had the chance to stay in the waitlist

I couldn't find it anywhere directly on the VMCAS website, but I reached out to VMCAS and they said that if you reapply it any admissions from the previous cycle (including waitlisting) is re-set for the new cycle!

I think this may be if you submit applications, not just opening & starting a new one. I started a new VMCAS application at least 2 months ago, and I was confirmed to still be on the Illinois waitlist last week. I don't think it resets until you actually hit "submit".

Exactly, I also opened my VMCAS application like a month ago and I am still in the waitlist.

Btw: Have your heard anything from IL? I am also on the waitlist

Nope, nothing directly, I would imagine we will get a "class is full" e-mail sometime later this week or next. But that's just my guess, nothing concrete. I'm going to be emailing for a file review early next week.

Yeah..what a bummer..

For those of you waiting on WSU I wanted to let you know that WSUCVM sent out an email today that said the following "The national acceptance deadline for admission offers of April 15th has come and gone, and the incoming first year class has now been finalized. We want to welcome you all to the WIMU Class of 2024." There is possible movement if someone else dropped after decision day because they got off a wait list somewhere else, but they seem to think the class is finalized.

I am so sorry if you didn't get in this year. I didn't get in last year so I totally understand the disappointment if that was your result. The last year of working just a regular job and not having to study has been really refreshing and I think ultimately a good thing to have had a break before starting vet school this august. Hang in there and keep trying.

Class of 2024 is officially full for Illinois, there are no plans to pull pretty much anyone from the waitlist this year! A little surprising, I guess there was a large increase in people accepting their seats outright this year. That's it for me, on to class of 2025!

For those of us having to reapply for next cycle what are you guys going to do to improve your app? I cant find any internships due to COVID-19 🙁

If I were you I’d get some kind of experience (volunteer, shadowing, or internship) set up for end of summer / fall to put on your app and work on things you can control - like grades and
essays!

Personally, my plan was to take some online classes (to boost my GPA, also was thinking of taking animal nutrition so I could apply to NC), possibly retake the GRE, then towards the end of the application cycle I was hoping I’d be able to continue shadowing an equine vet (I have mostly small animal experience), all while reworking my essays!

it’s a weird time for everyone, including vet schools themselves. I’m sure admissions teams will be understanding if you can’t get in person experience during this time. However, I think it’s important to continue adding to your app as you can. Maybe even doing something regarding covid-19... like making & donating masks.

good luck!!:cat:

Has anyone gotten any updates from Auburn? I haven’t heard of any movement in weeks or gotten a “class full” email..

Has anyone gotten any updates from Midwestern? Has anyone heard if they’ve had any movement on the waitlist especially due to the admissions team having to work remotely from home? It’s just radio silence over here 😕

Got an email from Missouri that their class is full, just a heads up!
