I'm on the OOS waitlist for Oregon State and on the Idaho resident waitlist for WSU.
I got an email on Monday that OSU ranked the top 25 on the waitlist of 200 people, and if I didn't get an email earlier, I wasn't on that list of the top 25. That prompted me to send an email to Tess Collins about just getting an evaluation of my application, and she responded with:
"Thank you for reaching out. You are currently on our non-resident alternate list, so your application was highly recommended for admission by the reviewer. There were no major areas of concern and the reviewer noted that your grades are very good, you have extensive and diverse animal experiences, numerous extracurricular activities, and solid veterinary experiences especially in large animal. I am attaching a general tip sheet for improving your application and it includes the averages and ranges for our out of state offers this cycle. I would say the one area you could improve upon would be your science GPA. Taking additional science courses and excelling in them will boost that GPA and continue to prepare you for a DVM program. I see that you will be finishing up your MS degree in Animal Sciences this spring, so your planned coursework gives you a good opportunity to do just that."
Which confused me..... I have a 4.0 in my MS while working full time for my University as a research technician. My science GPA is a 3.43 with the inclusion of my undergraduate classes, with only one C my final semester of UG. I basically took her first statement to be "the people who reviewed your application highly recommended we offer you a seat, but we just didn't for no particular reason." Which is very frustrating...
