I know most of us were expecting May 15th to be some magical date with all this movement. but now that that date is past and a lot of movement has already happened... does this mean that MOST of the filling of classes is over? I know there are some schools that havn't decided on waitlisted people (like U of C). but I think that anything from no on will more than likely be a few applicants here and there. I guess I just need closure because I am tired of jumping with every phone call and the highlight of my day being checking the mail. its pathetic and this summer break that I was planning before medical school has been the most stressful part of my life. I would rather be taking some final exams right now than to be going through this crap!

Not at all, May 15th is simply when it all really begins to move and positions begin to shuffle so to speak. Most movement on waitlists occur at the end of May to late June. The next month will be the month to look for. Admissions committees take their time, because they have no one to answer to. We just have to wait and take it. It is still very early in the waitlist process so that gives me the feeling their is going to be an esspecially large amount of movements this year.

July 1st it will be "almost over." It's just beginning! Expect a lot of movement especially in the next two weeks.

gosh, who else would be awake at 4am!!!!

thanks for the replies. I guess I'm just a bit drained right now and pissed that its taking so long. and its just so hard to take this much longer. if no one wants me thats fine but I hate this teasing!!

We're always awake.

Bradelyp, your statement is quite scary! :)

don't worry, the waitlist keeps moving like some conga line. panultimate example is my friend who got off the waitlist 30 minute prior to the start of orientation. woo hoo!

yeah it's not nearly over..think about it....

May 15 is the day when people with 2938472 acceptances get a kick in the ass to just pick one and give up the others....I know this is nothing new...but if 10 people have 10 acceptances and each withdraw 9 on may 15, then 90 spots get to go to other people (assuming by that time the schools are ready to pick from their waitlists). Man...how cool would it be if the med schools put out lists of when all their acceptances went out the previous years (including waitlist spots)??....that would have made me feel so much better about my waitlists...oh well

Remember there will always be people who accept one waitlist but still prefer another school that he/she was waitlisted in. It all makes for a long summer.

So take a deep breath.

it's hardly even begun yet! most movement will occur around mid-June.

I just wanted to say that I really really want all of you waitlisted people to get in. Just reading your posts makes me feel sad...it's almost like I can feel your pain, yet i have not been there (and don't wanna be!)...my thoughts and prayres are with you guys.

It definitely isn't over yet. Hell, my school's waitlist hasn't even BEGUN moving. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> This is going to be a LONG summer to be sure.

I think you need only look at the waitlist movement thread from this year or last year to answer your question. the next 2-3 weeks is when the greatest amount of movement is taking place, and at some schools there also seems to be a small surge of movement in the middle of July. I got in in mid-July with average stats, so that should give people some hope. good luck.

for example, rush med has only had 7 people withdraw their apps. and thats it since may 15th. I think that is ridiculous, how can people still be holding multiple acceptances, even though rush extended their deadline to hold their acceptance along with another school to june 1, these other schools should still have their may 15 deadline to withdraw or officially accept. But I think that the upper tier schools like emory are holding everything up by not releasing open spaces which they plan to do in the next 2 weeks. hey, I would be happy to get into my number one choice (emory) but if they call me 30 min before orientation, that might not be physically posible for me to pack, drive 10 hours, and be mentally ready to start school after already probably having missed a few days of class!! Don't get me wrong, I would do it for sure, but it just sucks.

I do agree with what has been said so far. In talking to one med school where I am on a waitlist, they said that they have not even started pulling people off the waitlist yet. Although they did state that they expect to start pulling people here in the next week or so. So for those of you still waiting for waitlists (such as myself), do not lose hope!
