Wondering if anyone has experience with this. I have had it suggested to me by my employer (not a vet) that it may be beneficial to write to the admissions committee pending a waitlist decision.

I had actually read a similar suggestion in an article geared towards medical school waitlists, and they went as far to suggest sending something very unique such as a collage.

But I have never heard this given as advice in the veterinary school realm, so I'm wondering if it'd be beneficial, harmful, waste if time etc

Any thoughts?

Waste of time. The protocol for a wait list is to wait.

I don't know if it would necessarily be harmful, but it's not going to change anything for you. I can't believe that you read something that suggested sending artwork in hopes that it would bump you off the waitlist. The only way off the waitlist is for someone to decline an acceptance. AFAIK, that holds true for med schools as well. Professional schools are highly competitive, very difficult programs. Do you really think a collage or letter in hopes of swaying the committee would be appropriate here? You are most likely ranked numerically on a list now. They don't choose who gets bumped from the wait-list at random.

I don't want to sound harsh, but what you need to get into vet school is a good application. You obviously were competitive enough to get wait-listed (and hopefully accepted this year), but if you don't get bumped, your best bet is to do file reviews and improve your application for next year. Don't wait until you hear final word from the school about not getting in. Start on your plan B now.

Edit: If you really are feeling like you want to do something here, you can wait until after the April deadline and then 1) do a file review 2) ask the school if they will still accept application updates from waitlisted students. I feel like they probably wouldn't, but you can always ask. If they say yes, you can update your hours and whatnot.

I think the last thing anyone should do is harass the admissions office? Best option is to wait and hope for the best and prepare for next year

There was a thread about this a couple years ago, it sounds like it's more of a thing with med school and law school waitlists, but not vet school: Letter of Continued Interest

I agree you could contact the school about a file review and/or seeing if they'll accept an update to your file (things you've been doing since you applied/interviewed), but other than that all you can do is wait, and work on doing things to improve your application for next time if needed.
