Joining in on this! No acceptances and on the top third of one waitlist. Last year’s thread shows movement already but no one has posted anything yet

I was in that exact situation last year (all WL, no acceptances), and the anxiety was almost unbearable. I ended up re-applying (and got started in May so that I could apply early), and finally got in this year. I’ll be matriculating to my top choice school this fall. So it may be worth it to work on that re-app. Maybe you end up wasting some hours and get off a waitlist (yay!!!), but it’s also possible you won’t, and you will wish you had a plan B. Just sharing my story to hopefully inspire and motivate, because this time is THE WORST, and it’s so easy to be paralyzed. I believe in you all! You CAN do it, even if it takes one more year.

Gah I'm waiting for that double-edged sword of seeing acceptances off waitlists for the specific school I'm waiting for on SDN. On one hand, at least I know acceptances are being offered, but on the other hand they haven't been offered to me (yet? trying to be positive, but only mildly succeeding).

Hi, just wondering a quick advise on traveling during the waitlist process.

I was planning on attending a conference in Europe that would last roughly 1.5 week. However, it is also during the middle of waitlist month (late May and early June).

I am also an international student so the paperwork after acceptance are twice as much, including flying back home to obtain student visa. Would it be a smart plan to wait in the US or just go to the conference?

Me with zero acceptances and 4 WLs who can not afford to apply this next cycle

Just go to the conference, you can’t sit around and wait to get off and miss out on other fun stuff.

I have full faith that you will get in!! Keep hope alive

Anyone here on the waitlist for University of Massachusetts? Or if anyone knows if there has been a waitlist movement/what the waitlist movement is like? Thanks!

I’m waitlisted at UMASS as well, and from previous years’ stats the chances of acceptance are very optimistic. 50/75 or about a 2/3 chance. I’m not sure how that number changes considering PURCH (I’m waitlisted for PURCH as well) but there is a little hope in my heart. Everyone I interviewed with was super intelligent and interesting so I don’t know how they’re going to choose between everyone :bag: but I have to trust the mysterious ways of the process and go with whatever life offers at this point.

Literally my exact situation. Best of luck to you!

I didn’t even apply to a school in Kansas, but somehow when I got a call from a random number from there, I still somehow convinced myself it might be from one of my WL schools lol
I got a call from the school I'm WL'ed at and had a heart attack but turns out it was just another department in the university sending me an automated marketing call LOL

Haha I got one from Missouri today, turns out it was "Heather from Account Services." That message calls me from all different states as spam like Heather pls calm down

I missed a call from a number I didn’t recognize, but the area code was for the city of one of the schools I’m WL’ed at. I caught my breath and called the number back.... It was for a produce delivery service I get that was checking up to see how I liked my deliveries.... a literal, “how do you like those apples?” call...

You know, I’d like them much better if I was eating them as a med student.

This would kill me! Hoping you hear from a school this week!

Vermont/EVMS/Georgetown/WVU, my phone is working. I made extra sure to charge it. I get email on my device too. Feel free to accept me at your earliest convenience. My day is pretty open except for all the time I've allotted for biting my remaining fingernails. Seriously, it would be no bother at all to accept me to your medical school.

+1 for Mayo MN, UCLA, Geisel, and UMN. I have an undergraduate awards ceremony. later this evening and I have to give a speech it would be great not to feel like a disappointment and tell the entire room that I've finally been accepted. that would be amazing instead of saying something along the lines of perseverance is key and I will try again etc...

that comment was awesome btw lol

Already destroyed my nails today, considering May 3rd was the first day of WL movement for Brown last year.

HAHAHAHA seriously!!!!

Are we just being our neurotic selves, or does it seem like the waitlists for a lot of schools are moving slowly this year?
I really truly think things are slower. Idk if people this cycle are just slow at making their decisions or if they're just so self centered that they forget to withdraw, but this is getting ANNOYING. :wtf::help:

One of my waitlist schools isn't moving at all even though there was massive moment the first week of May last year. The other is moving twice as fast as last year.

I say it’s a well-planned conspiracy: the accepted students are ALL in cahoots to not relinquish any spots, thereby keeping us out of med school and ultimately increasing their chances at matching for residency!

...I’ve officially gone mad

Edit: a word

They are holding our future hostage... this calls for a revolution~

Can a kind soul post the waitlist info on BU from MSAR? Also, anyone hear anything about movement this year? I know they haven't had much in the last two years...

For Boston university school of medicine:

Typical number of waitlist positions per cycle
50-100

Number of acceptance offers granted to applicants on the waitlist
10

Waitlist procedures and information
Wait List offers are extended by telephone and an agreement is reached about how much time the applicant will have to decide. Early in the process this may be as long as 10 days, but as the start-dat

I wonder if someone could offer advice please? I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on this yet. Scenario: I am waitlisted at two schools, and I have had no acceptances anywhere. This is my first year applying (hopefully only year). I strongly prefer school A over school B.

If school B accepts me, I believe I have two weeks to decide. At the end of that two weeks, I would have to accept if I don't hear from school A. If I then get accepted to school A after I agree to school B, do the AAMC rules permit me to change from B to A?

yes you can. you can keep switching to whatever school gives you an offer
