Does anyone know of a thread or spreadsheet or report that shows a timeline of when people are accepted off of the waitlist in past years? From my understanding, the bulk of waitlist acceptances come from mid-April to late May. I am waitlisted at 6 schools currently and am applying to gap year grad programs in Philadelphia which start in August as my backup plan, and I might be able to transfer locations to Philadelphia for my scribe job as well. I don't want to move and get settled in too early (especially because my fiancee will need to find a job as well) if there is a chance that I will get in off of a waitlist, so my idea would be to postpone moving to Philadelphia until the last minute so that I don't waste the time and money on relocating. I am just wondering if there is really any hope that I could get in off of a waitlist in July or August, or do just a handful of people get in that late?

This is the great conundrum of the waitlist. How long should you put your plans on hold? I would pick a deadline that works for your and your situation for how long you can/want/are willing to wait. Then, maybe a week before that, contact the schools you are waitlisted at and ask them if they anticipate significant movement after that point. The vast majority of waitlist movement likely happens in May, but it probably depends on the school.

Is the April 30th a hard deadline for students with multiple acceptances or is simply a soft deadline?

It’s a hard deadline if they want to get their money back but I think the aamc also makes that rule

They lose their measley deposit? Is that it? Not much incentive to let go of multiple acceptances if that’s the case. Seems like a soft deadline to me. A hard deadline would be getting all your acceptances rescinded if you don’t let go of all but one of your acceptances.

That's what I'm wondering, how can they check? Look at the multiple acceptance report and see if you still show up for somewhere else? That means they'd have to manually do it for every student after April 30th, maybe they start checking the week after

The schools reserve the right to rescind someone's acceptance if they are committed to multiple schools after the deadline, but whether or not they choose to do that is up to them.

So don’t quote me on this but I’ve heard accepted students say that it updates in amcas to show your acceptance. The fact that it’s digital makes it easy to keep track of. Since aamc has nationalized the med school process, it’s all in one central location so I’m imagining that if you type in someone’s name you can find out where they’re going. The deposit thing also helps since people want their money back. The thing is this only applies for MD schools so if you have a DO acceptance too they mostly likely can’t see it so I don’t know how that all works out

These threads are always hotbeds of anxiety and then everyone always gets accepted. I love it! Also, for those who haven't been accepted yet, it's still a month away from when I was accepted two years ago (oh God I'm old).
You’re the most application-anxiety reducing poster on SDN, thank you for your work

Yea, I know when you got accepted. It was motivation to the whole thread. I am unfortunately in yet another round of waitlist woes. ☹️
