In today's news: a huge day for Einstein. I'm talking double digits!
In other news: Hawaii and USC also had a bit of movement.

Does your school also have some overlap with Boston University? Thanks!

I know there’s been some Temple movement, but I’ve still got my fingers crossed for some good news! Gotta start looking for housing and roommates soon... 😱

Has anyone called Boston University and asked about movement? I tried to, but I couldn't reach anyone...

@gyngyn Sorry to pile on to the already endless list of questions, but does your school have any overlap with WUSTL? Thank you so much in advance!

Longtime sideline lurker/cheerleader here, but officially waitlisted at Einstein today so I'm joining this train. Sending in my LOI and hope to get good news from them in their next wave of WL movement. Fingers crossed!

Yes, quite a bit.
I haven't seen any new acceptances.

random question that has no relevance to me haha but I'm curious. When a schools MCAT average shows up on MSAR, how do multiple MCAT matriculants get factored into that? Is it school dependent? If so, why wouldn't all schools just record the highest score for rankings etc. when they sometimes average them etc.?

Like if someone got a 508 and a 520- avg is a 514. Although its only one matriculant does the MSAR/school report a 514 or 520?

Why are schools not more transparent about waitlist movement? You seem to be the only guiding light in all of this mystery and uncertainty.
I only have a small piece of the puzzle...

@gyngyn, do updates/interest/correspondence to admissions make any difference at this point? or is it just busywork for WLers and annoyance to adcoms.

That varies a lot by school.
In general, we know that those who are holding no acceptances will come (whether they send anything or not!)
If you are on the waitlist at a more expensive (or "lesser') school and have an acceptance at a cheaper (or "better") school, sending a love letter explaining how you prefer the waitlist school might help if they have an unranked waitlist.

MSAR uses the last MCAT.

Hit with my second WL out of 2 IIs. The wait continues as I try to make my new app spectacular.
I hope no one here has to apply twice. However, I'm a reapplicant that got accepted the 2nd time and this has been a really good year for my mental health. Just remember that you're going to be okay. If you want to be a doctor and are facing rejection just keep improving yourself and knocking on doors! If you don't get it this time (and I hope you all do), pick yourself up and keep grinding away.

Im not as nervous about reapplying. From the schools that gave me feedback, I improved on all of the aspects that they made not of (except stats) because I was lacking some parts. Im not really trying to retake the mcat for a 3rd time and Im contemplating if I should take a cycle off to really beef up my ECs some more.

Maryland anyone? I'd ask on their thread but it's dead and no one responds

@gyngyn has your waitlist had any overlap with any of the South Carolina schools? Thanks in advance!

Any news on movement at U Penn (Perelman)?

Anyone else also start on their application for next cycle just in case?🙁
Me 🙂. Recently got word that my top choice school I’m waitlisted at has stopped taking candidates from the waitlist (or deems it very unlikely). Fun times.

University of Miami
Hmmm. I'm accepted at Miami MD/MPH and waitlisted for MD. I wouldn't rule out movement there just yet. I really hope you get in. Spots will become available as people withdraw because of other waitlist movement. For example, if I get off the waitlist at UCLA, Miami will have another open spot! This seems to be a pretty stagnant waitlist season so far, so maybe some more movement will happen in late May and June. But I was in your spot last year... on multiple waitlists but having to prepare my app for next year. Good luck and stay positive!

I'm currently sitting on 0 acceptances and 4 WL's, one of which seems to have a very stagnant WL and there's not much info on the other 3 (no MSAR, handful of acceptances on SDN). Since my one-year position just ended, I'm wondering when I should "give up" on this cycle and find new employment and volunteer positions for my re-app year. I've started to prepare my re-app, but it seems silly to commit to a new positions now, while WL's seem to be moving, but I can't realistically be unemployed all summer waiting for that unlikely late acceptance.

Anyone in a similar position? or maybe some re-applicants have some insight?

Always prepare for all possible outcomes. I was on 3 waitlists last year and was SO confident at least one would work out. It may for you but it didn't for me and I'm glad I was prepared with an early app and continued employment/app-strengthening experiences (medical assistant and doctors without walls volunteer). Cover all your bases. If you get a new position and have to bail they will have to understand.
