Waitlist Thread 2016-2017

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It would have been nice to have an acceptance and some security before my first decision was being placed on a waitlist that seems almost no movement!!!!!

Now I just feel mediocre as hell and like this will probably be my fate at every other school too. Trying to stay positive

Waitlisted on Friday! Ugh I would have loved to have an acceptance first!

Waitlisted as well 🙁 found out after finishing my second interview

Waitlisted as well. It sucks because I thought the interview went extremely well.

Waitlisted as well. I expected it but still darn it

Waitlisted at one of my favorite schools today. A little sad, but trying to focus on all of the other pending decisions I have coming.

Y'all think this waitlist life is hard? Try being a re-applicant who was waitlisted last cycle, applied early this one, interviewed at the same school 2 months earlier, and was waitlisted. Again.... See you homies in May....

I'm really sorry. I am sure your pain will be worth it in the end, friend.

Stay strong my friend!

Waitlisted. Kind of disappointed because my stats were very competitive for the school and it was one of my top choices.

I'm going to be waiting until at least Nov 1 for my next decision. If I don't get accepted into my low stat State school, Idk what I'm going to do haha. Interview went a lot better than my first so here's to hoping.

Joining this thread. Waitlisted from my only II 🙁 doesn't feel too good lol

Checking in. Waitlisted yesterday and will be attending my last interview (as of now) this week for what is most likely another waitlist given little OOS spots. Feels bad man.

Currently waitlisted at my top choice. I have another interview coming up but the wait is making it hard for me to focus on other things, especially when others are getting pulled off that waitlist already... just hoping for good news soon for all of us!!!

Hi guys! I've posted about this before but sdn can always use a little more optimism, so I hope you'll all find that this gives you hope in the coming months. My boyfriend applied two years ago with a LizzyM of >78, research experience with publications, honors, etc. He was interviewed at 3 great MD schools and then waitlisted at all 3, began to reapply after not hearing anything by June, and then was eventually accepted off of a waitlist on August 6th.. 3 DAYS before he had to be at orientation. He was told he was the very last person accepted to that school (seriously, what kind of a dean tells their students that?). Now he's in his second year and was just awarded for being the #1 student in his class, despite being the very last one accepted. To me this shows that this process is seriously flawed and that your position, whether it be accepted, wait listed, or rejected, has absolutely no bearing on how successful, deserving or capable you are. (This also tells me something about the school and their inability to decipher which students will truly be successful in their program, but that's a whole different conversation.) I know it's a long and dreadful process but I hope you'll all stay hopeful and optimistic until those acceptances start rolling in this April!🙂

Waitlisted here too, and now I have to wait till next year to hear about decisions at other schools...THIS PROCESS IS LITERALLY THE WORST

I have been waitlisted at 3 schools now this cycle. I believe this will be my fate at the remaining 2 I am waiting to hear back from as well... Don't know what I did wrong!

Waitlisted at my state school this past week, which honestly doesn't really mean anything considering they only accept about 5 per month.

Just wanted to encourage ya'll because at least we haven't been rejected! :luck::luck: it's a long cycle and people get in off the waitlist all the time!

Whelp here's to my 2nd WL. Two more to go! haha.

yeah two waitlists here and expecting a third...it's so discouraging.

two waitlists, one rejection :/

2 waitlists...hopefully I can convert the next interview into an acceptance. Maybe get a few more IIs? meh

I never got off of my two waitlists last year. One of those schools gave me another interview this year and omg if I get waitlisted again I will pull off all of my hair one by one.

Literally happened to me at both the schools I interviewed at last year and re-interviewed at this year. Starting to feel like all the docs, med students, mock-interviewers, and advisers I've worked with over the years have just lied to me and I'm actually socially inept.

So you reinterviewed and got waitlisted at both schools again? That'd be rough. I'm secretly hoping they'll take pity on us and just throw an acceptance our way eventually. Good luck to you!

Yep... I'm getting really good at being waitlisted. Good luck to you too!

Aaaaand another waitlist...

Of the three interviews I've attended thus far I've gotten 3 WLs. I have an interview at Einstein coming up on Monday which will probably be my last so I'm really hoping I can convert this one.

The feeling that you've put in the effort but are not reaping the rewards...
But as they say, it's not over until it's over. Hopefully better news will be coming our way!

What sucks the most is being waitlisted at schools that supposedly have little movement...I wanna go to my top choice so bad it hurts...

Accepted into an MD program!

From a reapplicant to another, a huge congratulations to you!!!! That's awesome news. I'm still hoping for my own acceptance call/email, on 2 waitlists myself, but your news gives me the energy and motivation to try and stay as optimistic as I can during this grueling process. Celebrate tonight, for you will be a doctor!!!:highfive:

does anyone know how long the waitlist acceptance part of the cycle TYPICALLY goes? I'm trying to stay positive but it's nearing the end of May... :/

Each passing day that you aren't accepted off of the waitlist means a less chance of you being accepted as the days go on.
