Hey guys,

This may be a stupid question but I was wondering what the policy is for being waitlisted at a school and attending their second looks? I was waitlisted at Johns Hopkins and I really loved the school, but didn't receive any information about second look - should I assume that I am not allowed to go? Or do schools usually allow their accepted and waitlisted candidates to attend?

I think Penn has a program where a very limited number of waitlisted students (basically those individuals that are highly likely to get pulled off of the waitlist) are invited to attend their revisit. Standard practice is to only invite students that have been accepted, though.

Yeah generally the point of the second look from the school's perspective is to lure the students who have an acceptance into matriculating. The second look almost always just for accepted students who are choosing between a few schools.

I would not want to go anyways! That would just make me more 🙁 if I attend second-look and pretend like I've been accepted and actually remain on the waitlist.

Only certain schools allow waitlisted applicants to attend second look. I'm on hold at VCU but I was invited to the Second Look weekend. If you haven't gotten an invitation but accepted students have, it's probably safe to assume that they don't invite waitlisted students.
