I’m going to be applying to all the Texas schools and HBCs early next cycle. I’m on my second gap year and this will be my first time applying. I just want to know a general idea of where I’m going to stand. These are going to be my stats at the time that I apply.
Major: Biology
GPA: 3.2cGPA/3.0sGPA (upward trend with the first ~50 hours being around a 2.7/2.1 and the last ~70 hours being around a 3.65/3.55)
MCAT: 508 (127 CP, 128 CARS, 125 BB, 128 PS)
Non-clinical volunteering: 230 hours (180 hours at a food bank and 50 hours miscellaneous)
Clinical volunteering: 150 hours of hospice volunteering
Shadowing: 50 hours (25 hours with an internist and 25 hours with a urologist)
Research: none
URM: yes, African American male
School: Large well known Texas public school
Work experience: 2 summers of lawn care and tree service and 1 summer of working in a fast food restaurant
Other notables: 1 year of D1 track & field ~800 hours.
