Hi everyone, I'm filling out my application to submit next week and just discovered this place existed, wanted to get my chances and maybe some help with my school list.

Grades:
cGPA and sGPA are both 4.0
MCAT: 526, 132/130/132/132

Demographics:
NY Resident
ORM, White/Asian mixed
Undergraduate at UNC, currently a rising senior (I'm 20 y/o)

All Activities:
Clinical
200 Hours - Volunteering on the Nursing Unit, patient-facing and lots of patient experiences for essays, etc.
100 Hours - Shadowing in Hemepath, Surgical path and GI

Research
600 Hours - Research at the US EPA. Manuscript in progress (delays due to government issues). Published 2nd author in a textbook section written in this lab.
400 Hours - Bioinformatics summer internship.
500 Hours - Research in a lab at UNC. Presented at an international conference.
250 Hours - Research at Hospital. Manuscript in progress.
(NOTE: I have been working with a mentor for the last 6 years since high school. I would have another 1000 hours, but I'm not sure whether or not to include this. This work has resulted in 2 first author papers, 2 first author pre-print papers, a manuscript currently being submitted and an international poster presentation. If anyone has any advice as to whether or not I can count these hours because they started in HS, please let me know)

500 Hours - Work in a leadership position giving education and mentorship to underserved youth in the community.
200 Hours - Volunteering in community outreach to middle school kids in the community, bridging the gap to higher education
100 Hours - Math Club
100 Hours - eSports Club

I also won a $4000 scholarship from the Chemistry department at my school.

NOTE: All schools that have MD-PhD on that list I am applying to as MD-PhD. I want to stay at around 25 schools, so let me know if anyone has recommendations for additions/removals. Any advice with my application would be appreciated, thank you!

EDIT: Forgot to include I have 5 LoRs. My PI that I started working with in high school, my current PI (who is an MD), two science professors where I was a learning assistant for their class, and my employer for the leadership position.

Welcome to the forums. Make sure you also ask your MD/PhD questions in our Physician Scientists subforum. Are you also considering Ph.D.-only applications?

Where are your service orientation activities? Food distribution, shelter volunteer, job/tax preparation, legal support, transportation services, or housing rehabilitation. You should have at least 150 hours when you submit your application in these activities, or your application may be screened out when being considered for the MD part of the program. If you are going for brand-name schools, you should have 250 hours minimum.

Teaching and mentoring count as an academic competency. While scientists like outreach, it doesn't help you stand out in the premed pool. Having near 1000 hours in such activities does not replace having service orientation activities.

I didn’t want to end up doxxing myself, but the leadership work involves a lot of outreach with families, helping give them food, technology, as well as helping kids through the court systems if they’ve found themselves there. I was just originally a little vague with the info, my apologies!

Leadership is administrative. Give us the hours where you actually served families and those in need.
