I was hoping to be able to apply in this coming cycle 2025-2026, and looking for some advice on my school list. I am hoping to apply very broadly and have started prewriting secondaries so hopefully decrease workload. I considered waiting a year to get more clinical hours as an MA and retake my MCAT, but I figure I should try to shoot my shot since everything is basically ready unless there is a glaring deficiency in my application:
CA ORM, 3.87 cGPA, 3.77 sGPA, balanced 512 MCAT (128/128/127/129). Graduating university this year, so 1 gap year!
Clinical: 900 hours (300 caregiving for elderly, 250 volunteer companion for geriatric patients*, 350 plastic surgery MA)
Nonclinical Volunteer: 450 hours (250 crisis text, 150 volunteer for immigrants/ESL learners* helping w GED prep, job application, citizenship prep, resume editing, etc, 50 spread out for community swim team I have been on since elementary school)
Research: 650 over 3 labs (translational, clinical, wet)
Employment: 550 hours (300 public health job, 250 educator at science camp for kids*)
Shadowing: 45 hours (30 pediatrics, 15 EM)
Extra: study abroad, hobby, public health/scientific journalism group
Working as full time pediatric medical assistant this coming year! Interested primarily in primary care.
