I received a Wash U recruiting letter because of my MCAT score, and have yet to get an interview invite. Has anyone else gotten a letter like this and not gotten an interview?

On another note, I have only heard from 3 of 14 schools, very frustrating (just had to vent).

i received the mailer after i had already finished my secondary and received an interview invite from them.

I got a letter last year. I don't think it makes a difference whether you get the letter or not beyond the fact that it indicates you have a reasonable MCAT score.

So does that mean you did not get an interview last year?

I did not apply last cycle. I did apply this cycle, during which I did not receive a letter, but was accepted quite quickly.

So thus far it sounds as though everyone who has gotten a recruiting letter has had an interview. I understand that it does not imply that you will be accepted.

Does anyone know of people who have gotten this letter and not received an interview invite?

Yes, I know of one--me! I got the same recruiting letter from them, but haven't received an interview invite. I'm not really expecting one though--Wash U is very competative--their average stats are insanely high, in the GPA and the MCAT. Plus, I was an August MCATer so I didn't apply until later in the season. Though, I have yet to be rejected from them either. In any case, their secondary fee was super reasonable--only $30 vs $100 at most other schools.

I think that just because you get a recruiting letter, it's not a guarantee that they'll interview you. I think it just means that your MCAT score was in the top percentiles, and those are the kind of scores they want at their school, so they recruit them. But there's quite a few people out there with those stats, so Wash U could fill their whole class with them, and still have a bunch left over that they never interviewed. From what I've read about Wash U, it seems like a fantastic school, so congrats to all of you who have gotten interviewed/accepted there!

Good luck in the app cycle FDGB!

There's been threads about this topic in the past years - and basically, if you get the letter, that doesn't mean you automatically are going to get an interview. It's just their recuitment tactic to get the high mcat scorers to apply. Do a search, and you'll see what i mean - apparently quite a number of people who get the letter don't get an interview.

You know, this entire interview process is so random. I also received the recruitment letter from Wash U after I took the August MCAT. I was out of the country and did not complete my secondary application until a few days before their deadline in December and I received an interview invite yesterday. However, I have yet to hear from other school except interview invites from University of Washington in Seattle and Dartmouth Med...but nothing from any of the other schools such as WMC, Tufts, etc. Does ANYONE know what is going on when they decide who to interview or not? I have a feeling it's not just GPA and MCAT and EC. I have no idea why my application is so uninteresting to med schools. Frustrating. Anyway, just had to vent.
