WashU decision dates, adcom meetings

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hm Okay. Tomorrow they'll send out the decisions. It's over night mail, but there's no mail on Sat or Sun. So am I preparing my line of tequila shots (whatever the outcome) for Monday?

Or do they make the rejections just wait....indefinitely. That's definitely the worst punishment: "Your application sucked. It was boring and we had to read it. So now you wait! Muahahah!"

Express mail does operate on both Saturday and Sunday - that's the beauty of it! Good luck all.

I think the USPS operates on Saturdays. The office sends acceptances by Express Mail on Friday and requests that they be delivered by noon on Saturday. My mail usually arrives in the afternoons, but I got a special visit from the mailman in the morning. So wait by your doorbell! 🙂 Unless you have a PO box or live in a dorm, in which case I guess you'll have to wait until Monday.
so this batch of decisions that's coming...is it for the majority of people? or is it STILL wk by wk?

yea bro - i mean, MSTP is full rides with stipends...MD is not so, and since you're waiting on an MD interview only....I mean, would you turn down MSTP programs at baylor, hopkins, columbia, cornell for an MD program at WashU?

Unless you are undecided about whether you want to do MSTP or not, I don't know why you even went on the interview at WashU. Unless, unless - your top choice is WashU, and even though you got rejected from the MSTP this year, you plan on matriculating in the MD program and then reapply for MSTP after year 1...otherwise...I'm hurtin bro.

edit: yo man, you just said in your profile that you didn't give a damn about the washU interview but went anyway, and then you proceeded to say that you don't see yourself going there!!! some of us are really hurtin for a mere waitlist spot man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! come on dude!!!!!!! what are you waiting for????

hey xylem and shakeyabooties...i went on the interview because i wanted to see the facilities and take a look at what washU was really all about. also, my parents really want me to go to washU. 😀 they literally ask about it every day.

but in the end, the reason i'm holding onto it is the fact that recent events have made me not so sure about whether i still want to pursue the md/phd track. (i just haven't updated mdapp to reflect that). and, as many have pointed out before, washU does offer scholarships for their MD program, and maybe if i can get in, i can bargain some sort of money... :/

I called it pretty accurately didn't I? Well, if you're reconsidering the mstp route, then good luck to you too 🙂

Man I interviewed in November....still waiting, maybe today?

I interviewed late October...I think I'm in the same boat.

Here's to hoping that WashU lives up to its number ***** reputation! I'm thinking its somewhat unlikely at this point though....

 I hope that they will make an exception for me...they can ***** my gpa but not my MCAT 😳

Has anyone on the east coast received the coveted (12pm) door bell yet??😕

I can't take looking out my window for the mailman much longer..may have to leave the house for a while...

8 minutes before 12pm... I'm just hoping... maybe.. just maybe tomorrow morning..

sorry to hear that man. I think we were waiting on the same three this weekend.

Thanks guys, this process sucks...but congrats to everybody who's gotten in, you guys earned it

Anyone have an answer? Will the waiting game definitely be over after this round?

I think so, because I got a rejection, albeit this late..

Well nothing in the mail for me today (So.Cal) and no door bell as of yet...does anyone know if the letters come express mail through USPS or through other carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc.)?

Did anyone get one of those nice plump Sunday letters?

No acceptances on SDN for the past meeting eh? Does anyone know if the AdCom meets again?

That's it, I've had enough. I'm boycotting this thread and WashU.

Rejected in the mail today, dated 2/27

Oh crap - sorry to hear that dude. This week will suck large if I receive a rejection letter too. I just got back from a canadian interview and i sucked large...i hope this will not be a week of sucking for me...i need a pick-me up right now!

someone said that they interview twice a month...so, they'll meet again in two weeks and then once more in april and that's it...all news will be mailed out by april 15.

with a 3.91 and 42 R, I really don't know what to think anymore....that's crazy bro...pure and simply crazy.

For Thurday MD people....

so now we're looking at two weeks from now? oy vey

So even if we interviewed late (early Feb), all decisions will be sent out by April 15th? Did they mention that on the interview day?

Best of luck!:luck:

yea, someone called in and that's what the admissions office told them. everything out by april 15, which imo is kinda late!

I think we can all reasonably expect to hear by the end of March/first week of April, as April 13-15 is the second look weekend, and they will certainly have notified all non-waitlist accpeted applicants by that juncture. If I recall, everyone heard by the last week of March last year.

KardiacKiehl, do you know if there is going to be another meeting? I feel like that was it for acceptances.

If people like gmsquid are getting rejected - I realize now, how much of a miracle I'll need to get accepted. I'm so sad, this was my absolute best interview yet it had to be at WashU, where I suspect even a good interview is not enough.

I really don't know. I haven't really gotten the chance to talk to my boss yet about how the admissions meetings went last week, as my lab is in the middle of peak conference submission season. He was going to find out exactly where I stood, but seeing he has told me anything yet, I'm sure it's not great news.

The sad thing is how little the interview counts at Wash U. They try and make it so non-confrontational and positive that practically everyone feels they had a great interview. Thus, a great interview, unless you get lucky and have Dean Dodson, who apparently has a much higher admissions rate than the other interviewers, is pretty much a non-factor (i.e. interview can only hurt you). Then, I think it basically comes down to MCAT and arbitrage (as even some insanely high MCAT people don't get in) ... it's one of the few schools where MCAT really is a big factor post-interview. To that I say, why even have interviews? It's certainly frustrating and I feel all your pain. This is my second time going through this at Wash U and I'm just ready to move on.

did you at least get waitlisted last year?

I would not mind being rejected already...i would just like to hear something...i hate this "purgatory" status (interviewed in Early October)..nothing no rejeciton; no acceptance; no nothing

Yeah me too. I really hate being given false hope.
Oh **** I forgot I had boycotted this thread. Lat post I promise😍

they have two "tiers". The waitlist letters are worded differently. People in the upper tier get letters that have a sentence that says they would "thrive" at WashU. You don't get any info on your ranking besides this...

That's an unfortunate choice of wording.

I'm just curious...what's the point of a two-tiered system?
