Hi SDN!
I have been very fortunate to be accepted into some great programs for continuing studies. However, I've had difficulties choosing between these three programs after narrowing them down. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated! I am a TX resident with median stats.
WashU St. Louis
Pros:
-Linkage to x2 Medical schools and great match statistics
-Very involved and supportive staff
-Expansive list of research, volunteering, and shadowing opportunities
-Allows for part-time employment in the program
-Opportunities for MCAT classes
Cons:
-More expensive of the 3(tuition ~11,000 a semester with 1.2k/mo housing)
-Out of state
A&M
Pros:
- In-state
- Moderately involved staff
-Cheapest(300/credit hour with 800/mo housing avg.)
-Graduating with a masters
Cons:
-2 Year program
-Risky for new gGPA
-No linkage
-A brand new program
Harvard Extension
Pros:
-Afternoon Online courses for fall, flexible for scheduling
-Harvard-level classes
-Do well=Sponsorship letter(unsure of the value of this)
-Moderate cost(Cheap tuition and allowed to live at home, but the chance of being in Boston for the Spring semester)
- Part or full-time employment is allowed through the program
Cons:
- If moving in Spring, the Highest cost of living and cost of attendance. (~625/credit with 2.5k housing average). Still would be < St. Louis due to needing housing second semester only.
- No linkage
- Mixed reviews from previous students
- Less involvement with staff
Thank you in advance for your input! I've picked up a good amount of information from the advisors for these programs, so feel free to DM if you're running into a similar situation.
