Didn't somebody earlier in this thread, say that the waitlist is ranked and updates make no difference at all? After being accepted, the process remains mysterious as ever to me. I just feel very fortunate and grateful.

yes, i remember dr. chung mentioning a few times that the waitlist was ranked when i was there for my interview, so don't believe what the secretaries at the admissions desk tell you. they make the process as non-transparent as possible, though for what reasons i can't say.

Hey... were any of you that got off the waitlist "thrivers"? I'm curious if the difference in waitlist letters really meant something or not...

Hmm, yeah, the secretaries in the admissions office all told me that it wasn't ranked. Interesting...

I'm sorry...absolutely no bragging intended...but I thought I'd mention that I too am going to be a member of Wash U's Class of 2009 after receiving a "thrive" waitlist letter, for the sake of the previous poster. Congrats to all my new classmates and Congrats to the U of Arizona waitlister who will be taking my place. I'm happy for him/her!

CONGRATS!!! did you guys that got in send in anything to anybody in particular?

Hey Kiki, Has, Laelia,

What part of the country y'all hail from? East, West? I'm on the waitlist too, from the East Coast...

I got accepted today too!!

Just got the call today. Now I have one of the hardest decisions of my life. Top three school or UMaryland with full scholarship, family, friends, girlfriend? I mean, a great decision to have, but argh!

Congratulations to everyone who has gotten off the waitlist recently. 🙂

I have no business posting here, except I have been following all the "drama" via SDN for most of the schools I interviewed at. Despite getting the "thriver" wiatlist letter, I withdrew awhile back mostly for financial reasons and to avoid a decision like the one DantheMan must now make. Anywho, best of luck to all of you in St. Louis.

thanks for the kind words, guys, and congrats to all who have been recently accepted!!!!!! :hardy:

DantheMan05--dude, i LOVED washu (seriously), but if i were you, i think i'd look long and hard at going to maryland. i mean, full scholly w. family + friends...man, that's what life's all about. no money troubles, surrounded by the people you care about, i'm so jealous! :meanie: its a win-win situation, though--let us know what you decide! 👍

 Ok, congrats to all who got in yesterday.

...Let's hope that our phones continue to ring today!!!! :luck:

dantheman05,
that is a tough decision. if it were me i'd do as superdevil says and take the full scholarship+girlfriend. you'll be debt-free, happy, and will probably thrive at maryland as one of their top students, which will only be better for you come match time.

good luck!

ps. i don't even know why i'm reading this thread as i withdrew from washu long ago. summer boredom i suppose.

i heard that the kkk is still going strong in st. louis.....my co-worker just visited and mentioned seeing the arch from his aunt's porch.....

what does everyone think about this?

Hmmm, I just got a mass type email from the admissions office asking if I was still interested and to confirm my contact info. Did anyone else get this email? Wonder if they are done with the waitlist for now and are confirming it for back up reasons?

eveyone gets this. I'm sure they will send it a few times before classes start. There may be some movement after they hear back who is still interested.

????? 😕 😕

Did I miss something? What does the arch have to do with the KKK? And if it is going strong, I certainly don't think it's prominent here...

weird...

KKK is still rampant in many neighborhoods in St. Louis... My co-worker is kinda trailer-trashish, and his relatives are probably even more so. I wonder if it is scary in the city at nights.... That's all...I wonder how the rest of St. Louis is...

whatever. according to the 2000 census, StL is ~51% black. its not like its the klan HQ or anything. if you think the kkk would make it "scary in the city at nights", then you shouldn't forget to worry about nelly and his posse pointin' they gats up in yo grill. i mean, you should at least be an equal opportunity fear mongerer.

I certainly don't live within city limits, but I live in West County and I work in South county. Mind you, these are not the most diverse areas of St. Louis...but I do see a lot of kids from the city (the high school where I teach participates in the Voluntary transfer program - a slightly more evolved form of bussing). I haven't heard about this from anyone... I certainly haven't heard any kids expressing fear about the KKK. And I'm highly involved with the kids in terms of race issues.

St. Louis is not exactly a model of racial harmony - but it's not what I would consider hostile. But then again, I'm originally from New Orleans - so I suppose most places would comparatively seem better.

St. Louis is NOT a scary city - it's actually rather family oriented.

Any more movement? Is there anymore to be expected this summer?

Waitlisted at Columbia and WashU. I'd go to either one....

Oh yeah: 38, 3.9, 'thriver'

If I leave with nothing else, I can still say that Wash U thought me to be a thriver.

Any news? Think theres any more hope for Wash U waitlisters?
:luck: :luck: :luck:
