.I'm on the alternate list as of today. Does anybody know if they have a separate alternate list for OOS vs. IS?
hey guys,
i deferred my acceptance until next year to spend one more year here in Japan, so I hope the slot that opens goes to someone here! Good Luck😎😀![]()
sounds like mostly waitlists for march interviews....anyone from march get an acceptance?

I interviewed March 17th and have been accepted.
FYI I'm out of state, 29 MCAT, 3.4 GPA, great extracurriculars, great LORs (so I'm told), non-trad from an engineering school. My interview at Wayne went really, really well. Looking forward to meeting you all in Detroit this fall! Best of luck to all who are waitlisted.
Congrats man👍. I have an interview on the 16th of next month. what extracurriculars did you have and do you mind sharing your MCAT section scores.

Thanks. Best of luck on your upcoming interview. Remember to be yourself.
Because you asked, my MCAT breakdown: VR 10, PS 9, BS 10
The interview consisted of going over the strengths and weaknesses of my application so the interviewer would be better able to present my application to the admissions committee. From my interviewer, I got the impression they are looking for folks with a good deal of clinical exposure. We discussed my year of work in a hospital as a computer systems analyst and then another year as a communications project manager. Also my 4 years of volunteering at a free clinic in a medically under served community. Not discussed in detail, but I have healthy dose of typical premed clinical stuff... nationally registered EMT, physician shadowing, etc. I'm well rounded with many non-clinical activities too but they didn't come up much in the interview. I am lacking in research but it's probably balanced by my engineering background and didn't come up in the interview. Biggest "red flag" according to interviewer was "barely competitive MCAT score."
Hope that helps. Good luck.![]()

I agree that my interview revolved mostly around my clinical experiences. Some of it was initiated by the interviewer and other times by me.
Also, I bolded that one sentence because my interviewer at the end of the interview goes, "So your application looks good but why did you get that 9 in verbal?" (I have a 9VR 12PS 10BS P) and he continues, "It's rather surprising since you are articulate in person and in your essays." SO I explained why and he goes, "Okay, I think the ad com will be understanding and it shouldn't be too much of a problem." 😀 I knew then that Wayne was going to be my first acceptance!!! SO I say all this because yes, yes, yes look at why your mcat score may not be as competitive as others and look at why you may have scored less on one section than another...it's important to end the interview on a good and strong note.
Good luck to anyone still interviewing!
thanks for the info you two! i have an interview coming up as well and i am just wondering how you guys responded to questions like why is your VR so low? or why do you have a non-competitive MCAT score?

wow thanks for the advice you two! the only thing that i am worried about is the way my mcat score is unbalanced. i have a very low VR but a high PS and BS. my writing was good as well. so i am sure they are going to ask me why i did so poorly in one section.
i am happy that they put alot of emphasis on clinical experience because i am a registered emt and i have lots of volunteering experience. i am just hoping that the low VR doesnt shadow over the rest of my app.

If you know why you fared the way you did and you TRULY believe that your verbal reasoning ability is not accurately reflected by that MCAT score then outline the reasons why you believe that. If you believe it, they will believe it. If you don't believe it, they will see through you and not believe it as well.
Hey Kirby, I agree with what the others said. I received an 8 on my VR but was accepted into Wayne last month. When my interviewer brought up my MCAT scores, I just emphasized my success in humanities courses, WS score and whatnot. She seemed content with the response.
Just make sure you are prepared if they ask about your MCAT score and you should be okay. Good luck!
does anyone know when the next call date is?
i was wondering for those people who've been accepted... has anyone started thinking about or looking at where they are going to live????

I'm not sure how far Hamtramck is, but Dearborn is quite close and is a relatively fun town.
Anyhow, everyone seems to be saying that you can major in whatever you want. Well, I'm not sure if that applies to all schools. I've been told by someone who served on the admissions committee at Wayne State that they laugh at non-science majors such as English, Psych and Soc when brought to the table. They want science majors that indicate how the students will do in med.school.

I got in to Wayne OOS and I was a Comparative Literature major. And i didn't do that well in undergrad, tho it was Ivy so that may have helped. Anyways, if you major in something you love, do it well, and also happen to rock your pre-req's and/or MCATs, I think that's generally appreciated by ad coms. But majoring in science is a great way to jumpstart your MCAT prep, make connections, know what interests you, etc.
Hamtramck is actually the only suburb that I'm aware for that has been completely surrounded by the city it's a 'burb of (N of I94 and E of M10).
Not sure how it's doing at the moment but it was very rough for a while (state took over it's PD and was considering taking over the FD - which was broke and unable to pay its smoke eaters, multiple fires every day, etc). Historically a Polish area of metro D, still has some of the traditional Polish ethnic resources.

Opps, my memory seems to be going on a couple of details. The location mentioned above is accurate, but regarding being an area that was in rough shape I was thinking of Highland Park.
I received my WSU AccessID and password but don't know what to do with it. I visited http://pipeline.wayne.edu and that was fine and dandy until I realized what's the point? lol. I'm Canadian so I can't apply for financial aid or scholarships, right? Then I read that I can use my WSU Access ID for email. So I clicked on "email" and typed my access ID and password (same ones that they gave me right?) and it didn't work. I was wondering if someone else experienced the same login error or if it is just me.
Thanks!

We don't get an email until later, maybe at orientation.
If you go to the "student" tab once you've logged into pipeline and then go to Other Services then "Financial Aid" (very non-intuitive). You can see stuff, like how they apparently haven't received all the documents you sent in weeks ago. The you can call them.
Thnaks for info. Hamtramck seems like it might be kind of desolate. I have discovered the Detroit crime map online which is somewhat helpful, but also frustrating b/c they don't let you view the rapes, murders, or narcotics activity like you can in Oakland CA, and you can only view activity for the prior month. And what happens in August vs. January can be very different things.
I wonder if the crime map is trying to tell me something...
Live in Canada. 😀 Windsor is safe (and cheaper I think).
Can I do that? That's not like legal, right?
I have a question about financial aid...
i moved out of state recently for a temporary summer job and I haven't had a chance to send in verification forms and tax forms. I know the FAFSA deadline was 3/1 and the online scholarship is 4/30. My question is...I cant access my parent's tax forms for a few weeks, is the delay in sending in those things going to hurt me in terms of getting financial aid/scholarship? I didn't know if it was a first come first serve basis...I don't think it could be since many people have still yet to hear at the end of April for acceptances ..and i wouldn't think its fair to lessen someone's chances on schoolarship just because they interviewed later....
???
If anyone knows anything, please let me know
Hey guys. I'm also a Wayne State acceptee. My family is actually from Windsor and we own a fairly large house there. If any students want to inquire about staying there, PM me and I can send you pictures and negotiate prices, etc. It's about ten minutes drive to the bridge, depending on traffic, about half an hour drive to Wayne State.
Let me know!
I don't recommend living in Windsor unless you plan to leave for school 45 minutes early every day. The border can be pretty unpredictable.
Hey Eikenhein,
When the border is busy, is the traffic backed up far enough so that even nexxus card users get stuck in traffic? Or can a Nexxus card user bypass the majority of traffic regardless of border activity?
Wow! That's really cheap!! I was just wondering, since you live so close to school, do you own a vehicle? Or do you think its not necessary for 1st/2nd year med school.
Anyone going to Wayne with a dog? I just got a puppy and I dont know where i'll be able to live with enough space for her (without getting mugged)🙄
